Boundless Sect: Rise Beyond Infinity

Chapter 1: A World That Left Him Behind

The city never slept.

Even at midnight, the skies above Neo-Earth's Sector-9 shimmered with streams of light as flying vehicles cut through the air like comets. Towers stretched endlessly upward, their surfaces glowing with holographic advertisements—martial academies, gene enhancement programs, interstellar travel permits.

Everywhere you looked, there was only one message:

Become stronger, or be left behind.

Lin Yuan stood on the edge of a rooftop, his delivery bag slung over one shoulder, staring up at the sky.

Far above, several figures streaked across the heavens without any support, their bodies radiating faint light as they flew purely through the strength of their cultivation. The wind howled around them, yet they moved as if gravity itself had no hold over them.

To others, it was a common sight.

To Lin Yuan, it was a reminder.

A reminder of everything he could never be.

He let out a slow breath and looked down at his hands. They were steady, calloused from work, but completely ordinary. No circulating energy, no hidden power—just flesh and bone.

Three years ago, he had stood in a testing hall just like thousands of other hopefuls, waiting for his chance to enter the path of martial cultivation. Back then, his heart had been full of excitement, his mind filled with dreams of soaring through the sky and exploring distant worlds.

But reality had been cruel.

"The meridian response is negligible."

The examiner's voice still echoed in his memory, cold and indifferent.

"No resonance with martial energy. Talent level: below standard."

That verdict alone would have been enough to crush most people.

But Lin Yuan had tried again.

And failed again.

After the second attempt, even he couldn't lie to himself anymore.

Some people simply weren't meant for greatness.

A sharp honk snapped him out of his thoughts as a hover-vehicle sped past, nearly clipping the edge of the building. Lin Yuan shook his head and adjusted his bag.

"Thinking about it won't change anything," he muttered to himself.

With a light step, he leapt down from the rooftop onto a lower platform, then onto another, moving with practiced ease as he made his way through the layered structure of the city. He wasn't a martial artist, but years of delivery work had at least made him agile.

By the time he reached street level, the noise had doubled.

Crowds moved like a living current, people from different planets and modified bloodlines brushing past each other without a second glance. Some had glowing eyes, others carried weapons that hummed with energy. A few radiated such intense pressure that ordinary people instinctively stepped aside.

Lin Yuan blended into the crowd like a drop of water in the ocean.

Invisible.

Ordinary.

Forgettable.

He checked the address on his wrist device and frowned slightly.

"Restricted zone… great."

The final delivery of the night.

And, as usual, it wasn't going to be simple.

The building stood at the edge of Sector-9, where the bright lights of the city began to fade into dim industrial shadows. Tall fences surrounded the area, lined with security drones that hovered silently in the air.

Lin Yuan approached the gate and showed his delivery authorization. After a brief scan, the barrier opened just enough to let him pass.

Inside, the atmosphere changed completely.

It was quieter. Heavier.

Even the air felt different, as if something unseen was pressing down on his chest.

"…Why does it feel like this?" he murmured.

He had been to restricted zones before, but this one felt… wrong.

Still, a job was a job.

He followed the navigation path until he reached a dimly lit corridor. The lights flickered occasionally, casting long shadows across the walls. At the end of the hallway was a single metal door.

"This should be it."

He raised his hand and knocked.

No response.

He knocked again, louder this time.

Still nothing.

Lin Yuan hesitated, then reached for the handle.

The moment his fingers touched the door—

The world froze.

Not slowed.

Not paused.

Frozen.

The flickering light stopped mid-blink. The faint hum of machines vanished. Even the air itself seemed to solidify.

A chill ran down his spine.

"…What…?"

Before he could react, the space in front of him twisted.

It was subtle at first, like heat distortion. Then it grew stronger, bending the light, warping the walls, until the entire corridor looked like it was being folded in on itself.

Lin Yuan stumbled back, his heart pounding violently.

"Is this… some kind of attack?!"

He tried to run—

But his body wouldn't move.

An invisible force locked him in place.

The distortion collapsed inward.

And then—

Darkness.

When Lin Yuan opened his eyes, he was no longer in the corridor.

He stood in an endless void.

There was no ground beneath his feet, yet he didn't fall. No sky above, yet he could still see. It was a place that defied all logic.

His breathing quickened.

"Where am I…?"

Before panic could take over, a voice echoed around him.

Cold.

Mechanical.

Absolute.

[System Activation Complete]

Lin Yuan froze.

"…System?"

The word slipped out instinctively, even though he didn't fully understand why.

In this era, advanced AI and implants existed, but this voice… it felt different. It wasn't coming from outside.

It was inside his mind.

A faint light appeared in front of him, forming a translucent interface.

[Sect Building System Initialized]

Host: Lin Yuan

Realm: Mortal

Sect: None

Sect Points: 0

His pupils shrank.

"This… is real?"

He reached out hesitantly, his fingers passing through the glowing screen as if it were made of light.

The voice spoke again.

[Primary Mission Issued]

Create Your First Sect

Lin Yuan stared at the words.

"A sect…?"

In a universe dominated by interstellar empires, martial alliances, and corporate powerhouses, the concept of a "sect" sounded almost… ancient.

Yet at the same time—

It felt strangely fitting.

Another line of text appeared.

Reward:

100 Sect Points

Basic Martial Technique

Unlock: Minor World Travel

His heart skipped a beat.

"Martial technique…?"

For someone like him, who had been declared talentless, this reward was nothing short of impossible.

He clenched his fists, his mind racing.

"Is this… my chance?"

All his life, he had been left behind. No matter how hard he tried, the door to cultivation had remained firmly closed.

But now—

A new path had appeared.

Not through talent.

Not through luck.

But through something entirely unknown.

Lin Yuan took a deep breath.

The fear in his chest slowly turned into something else.

Excitement.

Determination.

A burning desire he thought had already died.

"…Fine."

His voice echoed softly in the endless void.

"If this is real…"

His eyes sharpened.

"Then I'll take it."

The interface responded instantly.

[Awaiting Command: Create Sect]

Lin Yuan looked at the glowing words for a long moment.

Then, without hesitation—

He spoke.

"…Create."
