"Leave the cases," Ava said. "Take the folder and get into the alley."
Corin lowered the container in his arms, while Lyne pulled Frost away from the transport. He followed, glancing back as the enforcement vehicle stopped across the road.
Four officers climbed out, two carrying swords and the others holding compact weapons with thick barrels. Their dark uniforms bore a silver insignia on the chest, and none of them looked surprised by what they had found.
"Step away from the cargo!" one shouted.
The bound guard twisted towards him. "They're taking the records!"
Frost's hand went to the folder inside his coat. Of all the things the man could have shouted, that was a rather unfortunate choice.
The officer pointed towards them. "Stop those two!"
A pale triagram appeared along the barrel of his weapon. Frost barely saw it before Lyne shoved him around the corner, and a bolt of white essence struck the wall where his head had been.
Stone fragments cut across his sleeve.
