Hair love for little black girls
I love my afro puff,
A symbol of royalty, power and stuff.
I love my braided crown
Head held high, no frown.
I love my lovely locs,
Nothing dreadful here, just beautiful locks.
Hair reaching to the sky
She doesnt hesitate to dream, nor ask why
Hair love for the little black girl,
Her confidence will shake up the world.
Inner and outer beauty of melanated skin
Man i just love the body i am in
So much diversity of styles of hair
Down our backs, or in the sky, we dont care
Many shades of brown all beautiful
How God made us all so wonderful.
Let us all gather, girls and women
And say to the one who made us, thank you, and amen.
"I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."
— Psalm 139:14 (KJV)
"I am not my hair. I am not this skin. I am the soul that lives within."
— India Arie
