Chapter 8 - mama, papa

Mama, papa

Its a mama is a mother,

Its a papa, its a father

Its a girl, is a daughter

Is a boy, is a son

The strength of the black family unit

Is a mother and father united in it.

No man locked up here unjustly

The tired woman here my dear left behind.

We must rise up and fight for our values,

Just as we fight for our many different shades and hues,

Yet all black and still wanting our dues.

Everything starts in the home, before we enter the streets.

Teach your young ones to stand up for what is right

or risk falling for anything.

Teach them to stand their ground an fight

And that they CAN be anything.

Uplift and build up and out

Some thunder and shout

Some whisper and say in gentle boldness

If we, the family unit stay together, we more than got this.

Mama is gentle and nurturing, yet strong as a lioness.

Papa is the hand that does not strike but guides, bold and protective.

Its a mama, a mother,

Its a papa a father..

"And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children…"

"The most important institution in the Black community is the Black family."
