Chapter 12 - CH-12(THE PROMISE)

The next day unfolded inside the company office.

Amili stepped through the entrance, her eyes scanning the surroundings with quiet calculation. An assistant soon approached her, politely explaining her responsibilities and introducing her to the company's workflow. After a brief orientation, Amili was led to her workspace.

Once alone, she settled into her chair and began working—but her focus wasn't entirely on her tasks. Instead, she was constantly searching for excuses to approach Steeven and Bill.

Whenever she encountered even the smallest difficulty, she would quickly make her way to Steeven's office, asking him to explain the task. Steeven, as always, patiently guided her through everything without hesitation.

Watching this, Amili's confidence grew.

So it's true… she thought. He's already wrapped around my finger.

She began moving closer to him more often, subtly invading his personal space. However, Bill, who had been observing everything carefully, couldn't hide his irritation any longer.

"Miss Amili," Bill said firmly, "there are plenty of people in this company who can help you with these things. We also have important work to handle. Could you please ask someone else for assistance?"

His tone was cold, and it clearly annoyed her.

Inside, Amili fumed.

This idiot… he neither falls into my trap nor lets Steeven do so properly. I'll have to deal with him sooner or later.

But on the outside, she immediately changed her expression. Her face softened, her voice trembling slightly.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Bill… if I disturbed you, please forgive me. I'm still new here and don't really know anyone. You and Mr. Steeven are the only people I feel comfortable talking to. I… I get nervous speaking with others, and I didn't want my fear to affect the company's work…"

Her voice cracked, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Seeing her like this, Steeven stepped in immediately.

"Bill, don't be so harsh," he said. "She's only asking for help with work. If she improves, it benefits the company too. Look, you've made her cry."

He walked over to Amili, gently placing a hand on her shoulder.

"Hey… it's alright. Calm down. Bill didn't mean it that way—he's just stressed about the company. Don't take it to heart."

Amili, inwardly delighted, quickly composed herself and wiped her tears.

"I understand, Mr. Steeven," she said softly. "Mr. Bill is the future CEO of this company. It's natural for him to be strict. I don't mind… in fact, I respect him even more now. I'll take my leave."

She turned to go, but Steeven stopped her.

"Miss Amili, actually… I wanted to thank you for last night. I drank a bit too much and didn't get the chance to properly thank you. But today, I'd like to return the favor. Tell me—what would you like? Whatever it is, I'll make it happen."

Those words were like music to her ears.

Finally… this is the opportunity I was waiting for.

At first, countless ideas rushed through her mind—shares, luxury items, wealth… but then she remembered her true goal.

No… I'm here to destroy this company.

With a slight pause, she spoke carefully.

"If you truly wish to give me something… then make me a promise."

Steeven raised an eyebrow. "A promise?"

"Yes," she said. "I'm new here and need experience. So… I want you to take me along to your next important business meeting."

Before Steeven could respond, Bill immediately cut in.

"Have you lost your mind?" he snapped. "That meeting is extremely important. If anything goes wrong, the company could collapse. We can't take you there."

Amili ignored him, her gaze fixed entirely on Steeven.

"You said you'd give me whatever I asked for… so please, keep your promise."

For a moment, silence filled the room.

Then Steeven smiled slightly.

"Alright, Miss Amili. If that's what you want… you'll come with us to the next meeting."

"Steeven—" Bill tried to protest, but Steeven interrupted him.

"Don't worry, Bill. Miss Amili is sensible. She knows how to behave. She's doing this for the company's benefit. Everything will be fine."

Bill clenched his jaw, clearly displeased.

"Fine," he said coldly. "But remember this, Miss Amili—if anything goes wrong because of you, you won't like what happens next."

Amili nodded sweetly. "I understand, Mr. Bill."

With that, she left the room.

The moment she entered her office, her expression changed completely. She burst into laughter, unable to contain her excitement.

"Now… no one can stop me," she whispered. "I'll destroy this company—no matter what."
