Months later, Joshua came home with a worried look. Everyone was in
their room except Adele, who was awaiting his return. She noticed his
worried look and asked. Adele: "What is wrong Josh?" Joshua: "Get me
a glass of water please". She hurriedly brought the water and he gulped
it down quickly. She then asked again "What's wrong Joshua?". Joshua:
"Adele, Marts Group is in trouble. It at the verge of bankruptcy and no
investor is ready to join. Mr. Ortega too wants his money back". Adele:
"I don't understand. How is it at the verge of bankruptcy?". She asked
with threatening tears. Joshua: "Do you remember when the lawyers
came here sometime back?" she nodded and he continued "They claim
Dad borrowed some money to build Marts Group years ago and
couldn't complete the payment. They took all our assets, leaving only
Marts Group and that too is in money crisis now". She hugged and
consoled him. Joshua: "Don't let anybody else hear this. Especially mom
or she will be extremely worried". She nodded and was taking his
briefcase upstairs when Mavis voice rang in the hall. "So, something
this serious and you're hiding it from me?"
They both shivered the moment her voice was heard. "Mothe…"
"Adele, I'm talking to my son not you. Because of you, Joshua has
began to hide things from me". She interrupted Adele and moved her
gaze to Joshua. Mavis: "Let's talk in my room now!" she exclaimed
loudly and began to move upstairs while Joshua followed.
"Joshua, how did all this happen?" she asked and he narrated
everything to her. She muttered under her breath "Kingsley, you are
gone but Leo won't let go". Joshua: "So what do we do now?". Mavis:
"How about you let me talk to him. We were once close." Joshua: "But
how mom, how?" he asked. Mavis: "we'll find a way" she said. She took
Leo's contact from Joshua. "Who is this?" Leo asked. "Hi Leo, it been a
while" Mavis mumbled. "Oh Mavis, do you need something?" he asked.
Mavis: "Not really, just trying to invite you for old times sake" she said
and he accepted immediately "Consider it done".
