Chapter 24 - Ch-23 Spar.1

And in the front Draves saw Kira holding the sword which is releasing yellow energy and his glowing eyes looking at the soul of bears.

----------

"How do you like it, old man?", Kira said turning his face and his glowing eyes towards Draves.

"....", Draves started walking towards Kira.

Silence~

And as he reached towards Kira.

"Umm... how was muy....", Draves clenched his fist and strikes on Kira forehead.

"Don't use much mana on your sword like that, you fool.", Draves said in an angry tone. "If you will coat your mana around your sword like that, there would be no sense of using mana possession."

Draves was angry on Kira as he didn't use the mana possession as he taught him, but the reality was quite different.

'Mana possession', It is a basic technique which allow the user to coat the mana around their weapons or their fist to increase the impact, and it is also the one of the techniques which can be used by both blessed one and non-blessed ones. It is like a haki but quite different as some people fuse their techniques with mana possession to release out its true form and it roughly take seven to eight years to fully master it and its advance level.

In the case of Kira, he had somehow managed to learn the basics of using mana possession and it had somehow work for him as his mana nature is thunder which allow him to release glowing slashes as well as to coat his sword which was given to him by Draves to increase the impact and make the opponent paralysis but he release very high amount of mana which is not necessary.

"Ah..., now I know."

"What do you realised", Draves ask as they were going towards the university through the forest.

The forest stretched endlessly around them, wrapped in a quiet, chilling calm that seeped into the skin.

A soft wind flowed between the towering trees, whispering gently—whoosh… whoosh…—as if carrying secrets from one end of the woods to the other. Each step they took broke the silence in a fragile rhythm, dry leaves cracking beneath their feet—crrk… crkk…—echoing faintly through the stillness.

Kira walked besides Draves, his graze lowered, lost in thought. Draves was looking at him, waiting for the answer.

Kira clenched his fist, feeling the faint pulse within his veins.

"As you said, If mana is stored inside our heart, and it flows through out our body like blood... then it is not like something I can force to release which I was doing... It should be something I should guide... Like instead of forcing, it to release in large amount at one point to use possession, I should guide it to release throughout my own body..."

The idea settled into his mind with a strange clarity. He could almost feel it—like a current running beneath his skin, waiting to be shaped, to be controlled. His breathing slowed, syncing unconsciously with that imagined flow.

"You are improving... and it should be best for now", Draves said as he glanced at him briefly. The faint crunch of footsteps and the whispering wind filled the space between them as they continued forward.

Soon, the dense forest began to thin, and an open space revealed itself ahead—the training ground. The air there felt different, heavier with presence, as if countless battles had left their mark upon it.

Just as they stepped into the clearing, a figure approached in haste.

"Draves, the elders are calling for you."

A brief silence followed.

Draves sighed softly, his gaze shifting toward Kira. "Go on ahead. Don't waste time."

Without another word, he turned and walked away, his footsteps fading quickly into the distance, as he walked towards the main building.

Kira was alone.

For a moment, he stood still, the wind brushing past him again—whooosh…—as if reminding him of where he was. Then, exhaling slowly, he stepped forward into the training ground.

The atmosphere changed instantly.

A sharp chill lingered in the air—unnatural, biting.

Kira's eyes shifted.

There, standing in the center of the ground, was a girl.

Long strands of black hair flowed behind her like a shadow touched by frost, smooth and weightless, swaying gently with each step. Under the dim golden light of the arcane lamps, her hair reflected a faint bluish sheen—like moonlight resting upon frozen water. A delicate snowflake ornament rested near her ear, unmoving, pristine… much like her expression.

Her eyes, pale and cold, held a quiet sharpness. They were not the kind that wandered. They observed… measured… and judged. Anyone who met her gaze would feel it—a still, suffocating cold, as though their thoughts themselves were being frozen in place.

She was the same girl who met with Kira in that prison.

Riya.

Her attire was making her stand out.

The ancient uniform of Torminas draped over her form, flowing with a quiet elegance that set her apart from ordinary students. A long, robe-like garment of white and deep navy wrapped around her body, layered with intricate golden patterns that resembled frost spreading across glass. The fabric was light, almost weightless, yet it carried the authority of tradition—of something far older than the academy itself.

Her sleeves were wide, shifting softly with the air and at aside rested Katana.

Silent, still.

Her uniform was different from Kira who outfit was also diligent as it was showing the black scarf wrapped around his neck and his white clothes and on them there was dragon, specially designed for him by Draves as he designed for all his students.

Riya then turned her face towards Kira.

Her blue eyes grazed Kira.

And then their eyes met.

"Um..."

It was clear that even after six years they don't get pretty along well.

For a brief second, the wind stilled.

The forest fell silent.

And in that quiet, the cold between them spoke louder than words.

The silence between them lingered for a moment longer, heavy and unmoving, until Kira finally took a step forward. The faint crrk… crkk… of the ground beneath his feet echoed once again as he began walking toward her. The wind brushed past, slower now—whooosh…—as if observing the distance closing between the two.

With each step, the chill in the air grew sharper.

Riya didn't move. She simply watched him approach, her gaze unwavering, cold enough to make the surrounding frost feel alive.

Kira stopped a few steps away.

For a brief moment, neither spoke.

Then—

"Curse child… what do you want?"

Her voice was calm, but carried a sharp edge, as if every word itself rejected his presence. There was no curiosity in her tone, no hesitation—only distance.

Kira didn't react.

Instead, he answered simply, his voice steady, lacking the coldness she held.

"…I'm just waiting for Draves. He told me to come ahead."

The wind slipped between them again, lifting a strand of his hair before fading into silence.

Riya's eyes narrowed slightly, studying him—not with interest, but with quiet judgment.

"…Waiting?"

She repeated the word as if it meant nothing.

Kira exhaled softly, glancing briefly at the empty training ground before looking back at her.

"Yeah. That's all."

There was no hostility in his voice, no attempt to respond to her earlier words. It was simple. Straightforward.

And perhaps that was what made the silence that followed feel heavier.

Riya clicked her tongue faintly, her gaze shifting away for a moment before returning to him.

"…You're strange."

Kira didn't reply immediately.

"…Maybe."

His answer was quiet, almost indifferent.

Another pause.

The wind picked up slightly—whooosh…—stirring the faint frost around her feet.

Then, without warning, Riya spoke again.

"…Then let's do something while you wait."

Kira blinked once.

Her eyes sharpened.

"We spar and also you will pass your time and I would also check my training as if I am capable for beating the killer or not."

The words fell cold and direct, like ice striking stone.

For a moment, Kira said nothing.

Then, slowly, a faint breath escaped him as he adjusted his stance, his hand lowering slightly toward his side.

"…Fine."

The air between them tightened.

The wind stilled.

And the quiet training ground, once calm, now stood on the edge of something about to begin.
