Chapter 11 - Time Skip

(Two years later)

It's been over two years since I've been in this world. Nothing has happened to me or the boys since I confronted Tomas, so I've really grown to like this new life. I've been going through school with honors, without studying. I've been getting stronger, slowly but surely.

Honestly, I've already gotten used to the routine that the system has set for me and you can see it, my level has increased to eleventh thanks to the daily task, isn't it great?, my energy supply is now so high that it's almost impossible for me to waste it in a whole day

I've also learned a lot of new skills over these two years, thanks to my grimoire, which so generously gave me the system.

The system has also become more friendly and is now a more tolerable companion, although it sometimes has its own comments like before.

The first thing the grimoire taught me was Energy Rotation. Simply put, I was supposed to learn how to move the energy inside my body so that it would constantly flow on its own. Sounds simple, right? It wasn't.

(Flashback)

The first day I sat on the bed for hours trying to get my energy moving. Nothing. The second day. Nothing. The third day. Still nothing. After a week I was starting to get desperate.

"System, do you think the book is broken?"

[Yes.]

"Then why doesn't it work?"

[Because the host is impatient.]

"Thanks for the support."

[I'm always happy to help.]

Morons.

After a few weeks, I finally managed to get the energy moving. But it only lasted a few seconds. As soon as I lost my focus, everything fell apart.

Again. And again. And again. Finally I remembered something from physics.

Inertia, when something moves, it wants to keep moving. So I stopped pushing the energy. I started just gently guiding it, like you're directing a stream of water.

And that's when it happened, the energy spun, not on its own, but almost. It started to circulate through my body, slowly, then faster, and faster. Until I felt like I had a second heart beating in my chest. That was the moment I understood why this technique was so important.

(end of flashback)

The second part of the grimoire was even worse. Elemental manipulation, or as some would call it elemental magic, fire, water, earth, air and the like, you know that, right? Well, it was the worst thing that awaited me.

I honestly thought I would just release the energy and it would start a fire, No! I couldn't have been more wrong. It didn't work that way, at all.

(Flashback)

Getting the energy out of my body was much harder than I expected. Inside my body I felt it perfectly. Outside it was like it was slipping through my fingers, and its consumption was crazy, much higher than when using Divine Body.

The first month I couldn't even create a simple spark, the second month I created a spark... and set my sleeve on fire. The third month I set fire to a piece of forest, fortunately a small piece of forest, a very small piece of forest.

[Hosts]

"What?"

[Next time, I recommend not practicing fire next to dry trees.]

"It was an accident."

[A fire is not usually considered a successful outcome.]

"It depends on the point of view."

[Not.]

(end of flashback)

In the end, my knowledge from my past life, Chemistry and Physics, helped me again. And I used to think they were useless to me. Understanding how heat, air flow or electricity works. Once I stopped thinking about magic as magic...

It started working. Slowly, but it worked. Today I can create fire, wind, ice and electricity. Although I still have a lot to improve. And the last thing I learned was energy weapons.

And honestly, those were probably the coolest.

(Flashback)

First I tried to make a sword. It fell apart, then another, It fell apart too, The third one even exploded. I don't know how. I still don't know how.

"System?"

[What?]

"How did I manage to blow up my own sword?"

[The host is very talented.]

"Thank you."

[In destroying things.]

"You bastard."

Finally I realized that it was not enough to create a shape. I had to constantly compress the energy and hold it together, once I had mastered it... The first dagger was created, then the sword. The spear and several other weapons.

I even found that shadow weapons are much stronger than ordinary energy constructs. Probably due to the Shadow Monarch's abilities.

(end of flashback)

"Mephisto!" Mom's voice came from the kitchen, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"What?"

"Don't forget to pack your things!"

Damn, I almost forgot. Today was Friday. And this Friday meant only one thing. A weekend at my dad's. With a sigh, I closed the grimoire. And went to my room to pack my things. Because whether I had a system, magic, or shadow soldiers... I was still the child of divorced parents.
