I ignored it.
The seal caught my attention immediately, dark, dried, almost black. Blood. It didn't look ceremonial, nor pack issues. It was from the rogue.
I broke it open without a word. The paper unfolded smoothly beneath my fingers, but my grip tightened slightly as my eyes scanned the first line.
Lyra was still kneeling beside me.
I could feel her presence without looking. Small, quiet and watching. I glanced at her once then returned to the letter.
And froze.

Eastern ridge breached at dusk.
Two patrol wolves injured. One missing.
Rogue movement increasing along the outer forest.
This was not random, they left a message.

My jaw tightened. The next line was written differently. Not rushed but deliberate.
"The blood you buried is waking."
"This time, we will not fail."
