Silence lingered after his words.

For a moment, I couldn't tell if it was fear or disbelief tightening my chest. My fingers curled slowly at my sides. Then I exhaled a quiet, sharp breath.
I lifted my gaze to him again.
Lucian stood where he was, calm as ever. As if he hadn't just decided my fate like it was nothing.
That calmness irritated me more than the threat itself.
A slow, bitter smile formed on my lips.
"Oh," I said softly, tilting my head slightly. "That's interesting."
His eyes narrowed just a fraction.
"You say that so easily," I said quietly, my voice not as steady as I wanted it to be.
His expression didn't change.
That annoyed me more than anything.
"What exactly do you plan to do with me?" I added, more firmly this time.
Something flickered in his eyes, gone too fast to read properly. "You ask too many questions," he said finally.
