The bird squinted its eyes for a second, gulping nervously. "I know where you can get good food, because I know I taste bad and do not fit your rich taste buds. Not only that, I can provide you with flight anytime you want, and when you are in danger I can help you."
Bai Xue Yao rubbed her jaw in deep thought. If she wanted to travel faster, the bird was her only chance, but looking at the bird's expression, she didn't trust it one bit.
"I don't trust you." Xue Yao unconsciously ran her tongue over her lower lip as she stared at the bird's thighs.
"Sister," the bird swallowed, its eyes glancing to its side.
"If you try to run, you won't even know how you die." Xue Yao said confidently.
"Then… then… I'll bond with you." The bird said, lowering its head.
'After I bond with her, I'll have unlimited access to human blood, and then I'll grow stronger and improve my level. Soon I'll become an S-level beast. By then I'll break the bond between us… yes that sounds like a good plan.' The bird thought inwardly.
"You want to have a master servant relationship with me?" Xue Yao frowned at its request. She had read enough books to be certain that no beast wanted that type of bond, except when they are utterly left with no choice or the master is truly astonishing.
The bird nodded its head eagerly.
Xue Yao frowned, although the bird could provide her with important help, her stomach was a second away from hitting hunger strike mode.
"Fine, how do you do it?" She muttered.
The bird closed its eyes and in the next second a single red feathered flame mark appeared on its forehead. And in the next second, Xue Yao fluttered her eyes closed.
The mark appeared on her forehead before disappearing into her skin.
When she opened her eyes the bird stood in front of her before lowering its head slightly. "Master." It said in a small voice.
Xue Yao felt her chest swell from that title. 'This is the beast world where most people die, but here I am already having a servant beast just a few hours after arriving. Am I not cool? In fact, I'm the coolest human ever… Hehehe… it feels so good.'
"Yes… Before you say anything, lead me to where I can get good food." Xue Yao said after snapping out of her thoughts.
"Yes, master." The bird said lowering its body so she could mount it.
"Call me Xue Yao." She said even when she felt good being called Master.
"Sister Xue Yao, I'm taking off now, hold on tight." With that, the bird flew into the sky.
"Wooow! Yeah!" Xue Yao yelled in exhilaration.
She looked down, below them was the vast forest that spread wide to the horizon with streams and rivers flowing through it like a chain of networks. The mountains were scattered around the northern part of the land.
"So what is your name?" Xue Yao asked, while staring at the world in awe.
"Name? I haven't thought much about that before…"
"Then, I'll name you Honghong." Xue Yao cut in.
Honghong lowered her head. "Fine, at least it suits my beautiful red feathers." She muttered under her breath.
They travelled for some time before landing on a rocky terrain. Xue Yao climbed down.
"Where is this?" She asked, glancing around the surroundings.
Honghong immediately transformed into a little red bird and sat on Xue Yao's shoulder. "This is the rock rabbit terrain. Their meat is juicy and chewable, very delicious."
Xue Yao's stomach grumbled at the thought of rabbit meat. "What are you waiting for, go get me some."
"Me! You want me to go in there!" Honghong screamed so loud that Xue Yao had to lean away to protect her eardrum.
"Yes."
"No, no, I can't. Although the rock rabbits are not very easy to catch, the real problem is their king. He is a S level beast. Going in there is like a death wish…" Honghong quickly said. "But you are different, master, your chances of winning are higher…" she trailed off.
"I see you are trying to get me killed. Is there no easy meal here?" Xue Yao asked. She wasn't ready to deal with a S level beast when she barely managed to win against a level one beast.
Honghong scratched the back of her neck with her feather. "Maybe we can look for fish…"
A loud growl rumbled out from the depths of the cave, followed by a trembling noise. The cave rattled with some stones falling to the ground.
Xue Yao immediately hid behind a rock, peeking out from her hiding place.
"I think someone is fighting with the rock rabbit king. Maybe we can use the distraction to get some rabbits." Honghong said, running her tongue over her beak.
Xue Yao thought for a second before replying. "That doesn't seem like a bad idea, let's go check it out."
With that they both rushed inside the cave, hiding behind the rocks.
Xue Yao peeked out her head, the space inside the cave was wide. At the far end opposite them was another passage entrance.
She gulped nervously, her heart skittering inside her chest. If she got caught by either of the two beasts she would be in soup. But this was the only chance for her to get rabbit meat that tasted delicious and juicy, and only after she had eaten would she start finding her way out of the beasts' world.
"Honghong, watch our backs." She ordered.
"Yes, sister Xue Yao."
Summoning her courage she stealthily ran across the distance entering the passage. The passage was narrow, and blue and pink crystallized rocks protruded out of the rocky walls.
They kept on walking further into the cave, and the growls and rumblings came again.
"Sister Xue Yao, maybe we should hunt for the fish instead." Honghong cried in distress.
"Let's just see if we can find any rabbits, if we can't find any in two minutes, we will go back." Xue Yao replied walking further inside.
Two minutes went by and they couldn't find any.
Xue Yao sighed. "I guess we go back." She said, and Honghong immediately nodded her head in agreement.
The moment they turned around, they found a white rabbit with two horns on its head. A black circle around its red eyes, its furs were slightly off-white.
The rabbit stopped in its tracks, staring right into their hungry eyes.
Seconds went by, and both sides froze in their spots, as if waiting for who to make the first move.
The next second, the rabbit opened its mouth and let out a loud screech.
"No, no, it's calling the king! Shut its mouth!" Honghong panicked.
