GA: Chapter 184: A 98% Compatibility — I'm Starting to Believe It Now

These behaviors might have seemed childish — but they were also exactly the kind of thing you did when you were completely, utterly at ease.

Bai Xuan wasn't particularly old. Though if you added both lifetimes together the total wasn't small, that wasn't how age really worked. Being out in the world was different from being in school — the mindset that came with each was entirely different.

Even the most mature person, after spending enough time in a school environment, would naturally relax, and occasionally do things that seemed a little immature by their own standards.

Men stay boys at heart until the end?

More than that — these were things Bai Xuan had imagined doing in his previous life. After all, who among Pokémon fans hadn't dreamed of actually living in the Pokémon world, with those creatures at their side?

As for Zixin — an angel's lifespan meant their relationship with time was fundamentally different from a human's. Five hundred years was genuinely just young for an angel. Which meant what Zixin was doing right now was entirely in line with her age.

This was who she truly was. This was her real character.

The maturity she'd shown in the animated work had been forced on her by circumstance — when conditions were what they were, every angel warrior had no choice but to grow up. When Queen Kesha fell, Zixin as the Sacred Right Wing had to step forward and carry the weight.

"Are you heading back?"

Bai Xuan set down his book and looked at Zixin, speaking gently.

"Mm — Hikari-jiejie didn't renew my Transit Talisman for today."

"She probably wants to talk to me about something."

Tenshi Zixin's expression fell slightly. After spending this long here, she genuinely didn't want to go back.

It was always interesting on the man's side — not just the Pokémon, but Doraemon, the mysterious technological robot with all those gadgets she couldn't begin to comprehend. Some of them could even simulate the evolution of entire cosmic civilizations.

It was limited to within the gadget itself and couldn't break free of that constraint — but it was still astonishing.

"You're the Sacred Right Wing. The future Celestial Base King."

"If Tenshi Hikari saw that expression on your face, I imagine she'd have something to say."

Bai Xuan looked at Zixin's crestfallen face and couldn't help but smile.

"Hikari-jiejie would never."

Zixin pouted as she said it.

"She really wouldn't — mostly because she was complaining in the group chat herself not long ago about how she had absolutely no desire to become the Angel King, and wouldn't it be nice to just find a man and live comfortably under Queen Kesha's protection."

"She also said there were too many things to think about now and she felt like she was aging."

"I suspect she was making a pointed comment at Sacred Kesha, but I have no proof."

Bai Xuan recalled Tenshi Hikari's venting in the chat group and laughed quietly. For Hikari — who treated Sacred Kesha as an object of near-religious devotion — to say something like that really told you what she was currently going through.

Simultaneous training from both Sacred Kesha and Celestial Base King Hexi. Tsk.

It would certainly accelerate her growth — but for some reason it didn't sound particularly comfortable.

"Hikari-jiejie said Queen Kesha was old? I'm going to tell Queen Kesha when I get back."

Zixin's eyes went wide.

"And then get a lecture for it?"

"Hikari is the heir apparent now. Once she becomes Queen, you might want to be careful she doesn't make your life difficult."

"I'm not scared. If she did that, I'd go to Teacher — and on Earth they call that, what is it — the Elder Above All Kings?"

"Right. Even a Queen has to listen to the Elder Above All Kings."

Zixin thought about it and nodded.

But before she'd even finished saying it, the two of them broke into laughter at the same time.

"I'm heading back."

"Come back soon."

With that said, Bai Xuan opened his book again and continued reading.

Zixin looked at him, pursed her lips, then quietly made a face at him — and immediately laughed at herself for doing it. Finally, she waved at him and disappeared from the spot.

Bai Xuan set down the book at that point and looked at the place where she'd vanished for a long moment, then shook his head.

"98% compatibility. I'm starting to actually believe it."

Elysian Realm.

Tenshi Zixin looked at the familiar room before her and tilted her head with a puzzled expression.

"Where's Hikari-jiejie?"

"Training."

A woman's voice came in reply, and Zixin's face lit up with delighted surprise.

"Leng-jiejie!"

Outside the room, Angel Ange was leaning against the wall. At Zixin's words she let out a light snort.

"It's Hikari again — she used the Celestial Base King's training as an excuse and had me come keep an eye on you instead."

Even as she said it, the ponytail behind her head swayed involuntarily. Her striking, fierce features were set with mild displeasure — but the look in her eyes when they fell on Zixin was soft.

"Keep an eye on me?"

"Is there something happening?"

Zixin wore a baffled expression, not quite understanding what Ange meant by that.

"Obviously it's about your man, of course. 98% compatibility — tsk, tsk. Has any known civilization ever recorded a match that high?"

"And your tone just now — it sounded like you didn't want to come back."

"Were things too enjoyable with the man? Already don't want to come home?"

Ange raised an eyebrow and teased.

"That's not it at all!"

"And the man is the man, but it's not like he's—"

"It's just... learning from his civilization."

Zixin's face had gone bright red, her voice dropping to a near-murmur.

"You're this red and you're still arguing. Sure."

"Alright, alright — when has the Sacred Knowledge Treasury ever been wrong? Think he could resist the charm of an angel?"

"Be bold. Just go for it."

Ange looked at the flush on Zixin's face and felt the corner of her own mouth lifting before she could stop it. The teasing came naturally.

Classic behavior among the older generation of angels.

Though she didn't have much personal experience in this area herself. Hikari was better at this, somehow — even without experience, she had a whole range of things to say about it. Teasing Zixin was more fun.

After a couple more rounds of that, Ange also shifted to something she'd been genuinely curious about.

"Hikari hasn't said much, but there's still a fair amount circulating on the angel network."

"That great platform capable of connecting the myriad worlds — is it real? Are the other worlds real?"

"And that man from another world — is it true that Queen Kesha believes his potential will inevitably lead to godhood?"

"All of it is real."

Zixin's expression settled into something more serious.

"Not just Hikari-jiejie and the man — there are many others from different worlds too."

"Some of their civilizations are at a distance from ours, but each of them has real potential."

"A few of them — I genuinely think if they'd been born into our universe, they could have become the chief gods of smaller civilizations."

"They're talented. And they all have the willpower it takes to become powerful."

"Through that great platform — it might not be long before they surpass us."

"Surpass us?"

Ange pointed at herself. Zixin gave a clear, confirming nod.

"If we're talking about individual combat power — even if Leng-jiejie has already advanced to a Third Generation Divine Body, you'll probably be surpassed before long."

"Sure."

Having fought for over seven thousand years, Ange was hardly incapable of accepting something like that.
