GA: Chapter 199 – In the Name of the Next Angel Queen, I Promise You—None of This Will Happen

"Yan—are we too dependent on Queen Kesha and the master? The master has always praised my research talent, but I know that even after another ten thousand years, I could never catch up to her."

"The same is true of Queen Kesha. You're excellent, Yan—but when you ascend to the throne, many angel warriors might not choose to follow you."

Angels were proud. Their humility existed only in the presence of Queen Kesha.

Angel Yan was exceptional—but if she were to become the Angel Queen, there was no guarantee many angel warriors would willingly follow her.

In their hearts, only Queen Kesha was the true Angel Queen. They would choose retirement before they chose to follow Angel Yan.

"I know this. And I have never cared about it."

"Not just them—in my own heart, the only queen of the angels is Queen Kesha."

Angel Yan's voice was gentle.

She had never aspired to become any kind of queen. If not for the chat group's sudden appearance and the Overman memory copy allowing Queen Kesha to see another possibility, she would still be exactly what she had always been—the Holy Left Wing.

"I know what you're trying to say. A civilization's progress must never depend on any single individual. It should be the entire civilization advancing."

"Every angel in angel civilization strives for the order of justice—but we are following Queen Kesha's beliefs."

"If the day comes when Queen Kesha goes offline, we might all find ourselves adrift."

The image from the memory copy surfaced in Angel Yan's mind—the blow Queen Kesha's disappearance had dealt to every angel warrior. It was something no angel could accept.

She was not a qualified queen. She lacked Queen Kesha's overwhelming presence.

After Queen Kesha's disappearance, many of her sisters had died because of her own inadequate leadership.

And precisely because of that, she had chosen to tell Queen Kesha everything.

The hypernova explosion. The Void Engine. Huaye.

They were fortunate. Knowing everything in advance—they would never allow any of it to happen again.

"Trust me, Yan. Everything you're imagining—none of it will come to pass."

"I promise you this in the name of the next Angel Queen."

BOOM.

A storm of violent lightning cascaded outward, pouring onto the mutant creature ahead with savage force.

The devastating energy punched straight through the mutant creature's defenses, reducing it to a charred husk of black.

"Next time, try condensing the lightning into a spear and driving it through the brain."

"That way you won't damage the meat."

"And for you specifically—while you don't yet have precise mastery over your own strength, this is also a method for training that control."

Bai Xuan looked at the charred remains on the ground with mild exasperation.

"Is there any possibility that's exactly what I'm trying to do right now? Train my control over lightning?"

Qin Tian looked at the black husk and laughed ruefully.

"Doesn't look like it."

"Are you really aiming to strike it dead without damaging the meat?"

"Who do you think you are—me?"

Lightning was inherently a force of violence. Getting it fully under control was already extraordinarily difficult. Killing your target without damaging the meat at all—that was simply impossible.

Bai Xuan could do it because [Natural Authority] could achieve anything he wanted it to, however implausible. But Qin Tian? Bringing out lightning's penetrating precision would be a more reasonable goal.

Qin Tian had no response to that. He collected the charred remains from the ground—this mutant creature had been reasonably strong. Back at the Bureau, an alchemist could refine it into pills for the storehouse.

"But you've actually reminded me of something."

"There's a mutant creature nearby whose aptitude is comparable to yours. If you hadn't consumed dragon's heart blood and the dragon pearl earlier, you'd actually be weaker than it."

"Without my intervention, it would have launched a beast tide against the Imperial Capital three months from now—and died at your hands."

"Interested?"

Bai Xuan looked at Qin Tian and asked it plainly.

Qin Tian frowned. A First Sequence mutant creature. Three months from now it would attack the Imperial Capital—and die at his hands.

That was the original fate line. So Bai Xuan telling him now meant its three-month destiny made it unworthy of being preserved in Bai Xuan's eyes?

Probably not the only reason. There was likely also the matter of using that mutant creature's body for food.

But regardless of the reason, he couldn't ignore a creature that might threaten the Imperial Capital.

Every beast tide brought catastrophic casualties—and this was a First Sequence mutant creature.

"Yes!"

Qin Tian said it with full seriousness.

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.

Amid endless crashing thunder, a blazing crimson figure and a bolt of blue-violet light collided again and again—entangled in continuous impact, erupting one detonation after another.

The shockwaves from their terrifying speed and combat power had carved deep crater after crater into the earth. A wide swath of surrounding trees had been reduced to nothing. Scorch marks covered the ground in every direction.

Qin Tian hadn't summoned the Blazing Dragon Armor. This wasn't a battle involving civilians—there was no need to end it quickly. For him, this was a battle of forging—sharpening combat power and building experience.

He was First Sequence aptitude. So was the creature. They were on equal footing.

Plus, he had previously absorbed dragon heart blood and the dragon pearl—he didn't believe he was inferior to it.

Because of that, his current condition was rough. Black burn marks streaked across his face and body—the creature's lightning had left its mark on him.

He hadn't expected the mutant creature Bai Xuan had described to also command lightning.

Fighting in the same element, his own lightning had been suppressed by the creature's—so he had switched to flame.

His condition wasn't great. The creature's wasn't either.

"ROAR!"

"Damn you—human, DIE!"

A massive silver wolf radiated brilliant silver light and snarled. Its once-smooth silver fur was now streaked with patches of black. As it spoke, arcs of lightning erupted from its entire body and surged toward Qin Tian.

"Speaking Mandarin—I suppose that's what First Sequence aptitude looks like in a mutant creature."

"Learning capacity considerably beyond the average human."

Qin Tian frowned slightly, mildly surprised to hear a mutant beast speak human language—though not excessively so. They had already confirmed that some mutant creatures possessed intelligence equal to or exceeding humans.

Learning human language was something he could accept.

Blazing heat condensed from his body. The fire met the silver wolf's lightning and the collision detonated in a fierce burst of light—the ground below adding more scorch marks to its already blackened surface amid a thunderous crash.
