CHAPTER 8: "RE-UNITED"
---
EXT. VILLAGE SQUARE – DAY
Crowd chanting like a cult.
CROWD
Maravah! Maravah! Maravah!
KAMAL raises his hand. Face full of rage.
KAMAL
(angrily)
I'm no fucking Maravah! Stop this bullshit. Leave me alone, you creeps.
The crowd falls silent, stunned. A woman steps forward, confused.
RANDOM WOMAN
Where are you going?
KAMAL
We're going to explore your so-called heaven. And we won't be back for a while.
Kamal storms off. Miraya follows.
---
EXT. DIRT PATH – LOMAN'S – CONTINUOUS
Kamal and Miraya walking along a misty road, backpacks slung.
KAMAL
(shit! moment)
Damn! Totally forgot. Before we start our journey, we need to stop by Vimar's place. I left a few things there... and it's been a while since I saw him.
MIRAYA
Sure. Let's go.
---
EXT. VIMAR'S HOUSE – A SMALL, PEACEFUL COTTAGE – MOMENTS LATER
They knock. Door creaks open. VIMAR appears, surprised but warm.
KAMAL
(grinning)
Yo, Mr. Vimar. What's up ?
VIMAR
(smiling)
Didn't know you two were coming.
MIRAYA
Hello, Mr. Vimar!
KAMAL
We're about to head out on a long trip. But I left some of my stuff here. Thought we'd drop by.
VIMAR
Come in, come in. I'll fix you something to eat while you check the storage room.
MIRAYA
You really don't have to, we're fine.
VIMAR
Please. Let me do this small thing for you.
---
INT. VIMAR'S HOUSE – STORAGE ROOM – MOMENTS LATER
Kamal rummages through an old drawer. He finds his wallet — dusty, cracked, familiar.
He opens it and sees a photo — an old family picture.
MIRAYA
(peeking over)
Who are they?
KAMAL
That's my family. These two… my grandparents. I grew up with them mostly. That man there… I called him "Gigi." He died years ago.
Vimar walks in, holding plates of food. Kamal hands him the photo casually.
KAMAL
Here, look. That's me as a kid.
Vimar looks at the photo. Time freezes. His hand trembles. His eyes widen. He sits down. Silent.
KAMAL
Mr. Vimar? What happened?
Vimar starts to cry. Deep, uncontrollable sobs.
KAMAL
(concerned)
Hey… what's going on?
VIMAR
(tears streaming)
The kid in this photo… that's you?
KAMAL
(confused)
Yeah...?
VIMAR
Kammu… I'm your Gigi.
Kamal stares. The world around him spins.
KAMAL
What the hell are you saying? My Gigi died. I saw his body in the hospital.
VIMAR
(serious)
I never died. I was in a coma. They told you I passed away, but they lied.
(beat)
I remember everything, Kamal. Everything we used to do.
---
💔 [FLASHBACK MONTAGE] — MEMORIES FROM EARTH]
Young Kamal on Gigi's shoulders, flying a kite.
Kamal and Gigi arguing over ice cream flavors.
Gigi telling bedtime stories under a blanket fort.
The last day Kamal saw Gigi alive—ambulance lights flashing.
---
VIMAR
(softly)
You used to sleep on my chest when you had nightmares. You called dinosaurs "dinasores."
(beat)
You tried to build a spaceship out of cardboard when you were five… and you made me sit in it.
Kamal's face breaks. His knees buckle. He collapses into Vimar's arms.
KAMAL
(crying like a child)
But… they said… you were dead.
VIMAR
(sobbing too)
I know, son. I know.
MIRAYA
(silently crying in the background)
---
INT. LIVING ROOM – NIGHT
The fire is lit. The three sit in silence. Heavy. Sacred.
VIMAR
You have the same disease I have, Kamal. A rare genetic condition. It lets us retain full consciousness inside coma dreams.
That's why you were chosen. That's why I'm still aware here.
KAMAL
(sniffling)
I don't want to go. Not now. I just got you back.
MIRAYA
(sincerely)
Kamal… don't you want to bring him back in real life? If you stay here, this will be the end.
Kamal looks at Gigi. Then at Miraya. Torn.
---
EXT. VIMAR'S HOUSE – DAWN
Kamal stands at the gate, bag on shoulder. Vimar stands at the door, mist in his eyes.
KAMAL
(wipes tears, forces a smile)
Let's go, Miraya.
They walk away. Vimar waves faintly as the sun rises behind him.
