Inside the Gryffindor boys' dormitory, Ron sat cross-legged on Logan's bed with an excited expression while passionately explaining every piece of Quidditch knowledge he possessed.
"Logan, I'm telling you," Ron said enthusiastically, "you've finally awakened. I knew no normal boy could resist Quidditch forever."
He pointed dramatically through the air as though narrating a historical battle.
"Now listen carefully, because I'm about to explain the legendary showdown from last year's All-Star match…"
Logan almost laughed.
Awakened?
Ron made it sound as though Quidditch were some kind of sacred religion.
Still, Logan simply nodded along with a calm smile.
At the moment, the conditions for his evil plan had finally been perfectly assembled.
Harry was currently outside attending Quidditch practice with Wood.
Neville and Seamus had apparently gone out to continue spreading increasingly unhinged troll-slayer propaganda throughout Hogwarts.
Which meant—
Only Logan and Ron remained inside the dormitory.
Perfect.
While Ron passionately rambled about famous Quidditch players, complicated fouls, and deeply personal opinions regarding Chudley Cannons strategy, a fat grey rat sat quietly atop a nearby table while happily nibbling on nuts.
Scabbers.
Or more accurately—
Peter Pettigrew.
Logan couldn't stop himself from imagining Ron's future reaction if he ever discovered the truth.
The rat he constantly hugged, carried around, and treated like a beloved pet was actually a greasy middle-aged man hiding from the law.
The mental image was so devastatingly funny that Logan nearly burst out laughing.
Ron immediately stopped talking.
"Logan?" he asked suspiciously. "Why are you smiling like that? My favourite Chaser got illegally fouled out of the match and you're laughing?"
Logan quickly composed himself.
"No, nothing," he replied calmly. "I just remembered something funny."
Ron looked slightly confused.
Maybe Logan also had a favourite player with a tragic backstory?
Fortunately, Ron's attention span immediately returned to Quidditch. Before long, he continued his endless lecture with even greater enthusiasm.
It was rare for Logan to sit quietly and listen to him this attentively.
Ron had already decided that he absolutely would convert Logan into a proper Quidditch fan.
Meanwhile, across the room, Peter Pettigrew suddenly felt a little hungry.
The fat rat climbed across the table while searching for more food and quickly grabbed one of his favourite nuts with both paws.
Then—
He froze.
A bright red apple had somehow appeared beside him at some unknown point.
Peter's tiny rat eyes widened instantly.
The apple looked perfect.
Its skin gleamed beautifully beneath the dormitory light, the shape was round and flawless, and an unbelievably sweet aroma drifted through the air around it.
It practically looked like the luxury sports car of the apple world.
Peter immediately swallowed.
For a moment, he almost forgot he was supposed to be maintaining the image of a harmless pet rat.
The smell was simply too tempting.
More than ten years spent living as a rat had nearly erased his memories of normal human food entirely.
Peter wanted to bite the apple.
Desperately.
But he still hesitated.
No.
He was Scabbers now.
A harmless, obedient pet rat would never shamelessly steal food sitting around the dormitory.
Peter Pettigrew strongly condemned whoever irresponsibly abandoned such an attractive apple nearby.
What kind of monster leaves something this delicious unattended?
That person deserves to never eat apples again.
With righteous indignation filling his tiny rat soul, Peter angrily returned to gnawing his nut instead.
Crunch.
Crunch.
Crunch.
...Why did it suddenly taste so bland?
Normally delicious nuts now resembled dry wood chips.
Meanwhile, the apple's aroma kept drifting into his nose repeatedly.
Sweet fruit.
Fresh juice.
Crisp flesh bursting with flavour.
Peter slowly turned his head again.
The apple remained there silently.
Waiting.
Tempting him.
Peter took another bite of his nut while glancing sideways at the apple.
Then another.
Then another.
Eventually, the nut tasted like despair itself.
Peter's tiny rat body began trembling slightly.
No.
Must resist.
A proper rat would never steal.
But…
Just one bite wouldn't hurt, right?
Surely nobody would notice.
After all, he was only a poor little rat.
And humans always forgave cute animals for stealing food.
Peter's breathing became heavier.
His eyes slowly turned bloodshot.
The apple consumed his entire mind.
At some point, clear drool even began dripping from the corner of his mouth.
Humans had limits.
Peter Pettigrew suddenly decided he no longer wished to live as a human.
A shameless rat had far greater freedom.
Finally, Peter completely surrendered.
He tossed aside the nut in his paws without hesitation before throwing his entire plump rat body onto the glorious red apple.
Then—
CRUNCH!
The crisp sound echoed beautifully through the dormitory.
Peter closed his eyes in blissful anticipation.
Yes.
This was the moment.
Sweet juice should now explode inside his mouth like paradise itself.
Instead—
Peter froze.
His expression slowly distorted.
The thing filling his mouth wasn't sweet.
It wasn't juicy.
It wasn't even remotely edible.
What spread across his tongue was a thick, horrifying, foul-smelling paste possessing the texture and taste of pure concentrated sewage.
Peter's soul nearly left his body instantly.
In his younger years, before becoming the Weasley family pet, Peter had once hidden inside sewer tunnels for months while fleeing capture.
During one especially horrible rainstorm, he accidentally ate something indescribably disgusting while scavenging for survival.
And somehow—
This apple tasted even worse.
Far worse.
Peter immediately tried spitting it out.
But the next second, terror exploded inside him.
His mouth wouldn't open.
He physically couldn't spit.
"What the hell—?!"
Glug.
Against his will, Peter swallowed.
The rat immediately entered a profound philosophical crisis regarding the meaning of life itself.
Still…
He tried comforting himself desperately.
Fine.
He had already eaten it.
And technically speaking, this wasn't even the worst thing he'd consumed during his years hiding in sewers.
Just treat it like reliving old memories.
Then the poison activated.
Peter suddenly felt dizzy.
His limbs lost strength instantly while nausea surged through his body violently. At the same time, countless shrill noises seemed to explode inside his ears, frantically assaulting his mind.
His vision blurred.
The room spun uncontrollably.
Only moments before losing consciousness entirely did Peter finally realise the truth.
The poop was poisonous.
THUD!
The fat rat collapsed dramatically onto the table.
Nearby, Logan silently observed everything while trying extremely hard not to laugh out loud.
The moment Peter bit into the Red Dung Fruit, Logan had quietly cast a Levitation Charm and moved the partially eaten "apple" into a hidden corner before anyone noticed the horrifying weapon.
Then he carefully observed Peter's reaction.
And honestly?
The results exceeded expectations.
Within seconds of taking a single bite, Peter lay upside-down on the table with all four limbs twitching violently in the air like a dying insect.
Absolutely incredible.
Ron eventually noticed Logan staring blankly into the distance again.
He turned around in confusion.
"What are you looking at?" Ron asked. "Is there honestly anything more important than Quidditch?"
