Chapter 142 - swift wyvern

The thick clouds were exceptionally moist on the crisp, cool morning, especially in this damp plane with an extraordinary abundance of life, where the clouds almost seemed to condense into a tangible form.

The astral floating island, concealed within the heavy clouds, had its usual tranquility shattered at this moment.

Klenaya, the Female Red Dragon, with her thirteen-meter body, crashed through the dense clouds without hesitation.

Compared to Kalon, Klenaya was more like a pure Red Dragon: simple, direct, and brutal, loving to assert violence, or to describe her with a more concise word—a brute!

This was also the common trait and fatal weakness of most Red Dragon.

Steam billowed from between Klenaya's scarlet scales, as if evaporating the clouds heavy with moisture.

The heavy moisture was evaporated, enveloping Klenaya's body in layers of mist, making her appear like a True Dragon descending suddenly from beyond the heavens, mysterious and powerful.

Klenaya did not care about the exceptionally powerful Wyvern leader mentioned by Green Dragon Antagena; like all True Dragon, she believed Wyverns were merely beasts that happened to have the word 'Dragon ' in their name and were not worthy of being compared to True Dragon.

Therefore, as soon as Klenaya, the Female Red Dragon, appeared, she fully unleashed her True Dragon might.

The intense True Dragon might, stemming from her revived ancient bloodline, swept forth from the Female Red Dragon with an extremely strong sense of oppression and deterrence towards other sentient beings, aiming to subdue all the Wyvern in the entire floating island area.

Wyvern of various brilliant colors, gathered together, playing and frolicking, scattered and fled like frightened quails, trembling their wings, with no desire to attack the Red Dragon Klenaya, directly burrowing into their mountain caves.

Only a few exceptionally fierce Wyverns, like startled wildcats, spread their wings in an attempt to intimidate the True Dragon in the sky, slowly retreating while making hissing sounds from their mouths.

However, without a leader to take the lead, these fierce Wyvern were merely posturing, using intimidation to conceal their weakness.

Meanwhile, Klenaya flapped her wings, as wide as sails, riding the high-altitude winds, directly crashing into the towering peak on the largest floating island.

Bang!

A powerful crash reverberated throughout the entire space, as Klenaya directly collapsed the highest point of the mountain peak.

She watched the collapsed mountain peak rolling down, scaring a few startled Wyvern so much that they forgot their heads and tails, their hindquarters burrowing into the cave first, still revealing half of their heads.

Then Klenaya stood on the flattened top of the collapsed mountain peak, imitating Kalon's style, supporting her entire body with her strong hind limbs; her wings also flapped, generating wind to aid her heavy body in standing upright.

"Oh, you lowly beasts, you don't even have the courage to challenge me, how disappointing," Klenaya lowered her increasingly fierce head; her slender neck made the Female Red Dragon's body curves appear even more fluid and streamlined.

Rosani and Green Dragon Antagena also burst out of the clouds behind her; these two True Dragon also unleashed their True Dragon might like Klenaya, suppressing and deterring the Wyvern in the entire floating island area.

Rosani's emaciated body gradually became fuller, and the True Dragon horns on his head grew sturdy and long; some strange patterns also appeared on his wings, which matched his scale color, but this Black Dragon was so dark that one would not notice them without careful observation.

Rosani's gaze, however, did not linger on the other weak Wyvern; his eyes were fixed on the place Green Dragon Antagena had reminded him of: the large cave deep within the mountain range.

The leader of the Wyvern lived in this cave.

"Come out, be sensible; if you want to resist, I will give you that chance; I will let you enjoy the release of death."

Rosani bared his fangs; the most bloodthirsty Black Dragon, ever since he tasted the fearful blood of those elves on the battlefield, this fellow particularly enjoyed intimidating others; he reveled in that feeling, the feeling of being a superior hunter.

Antagena, on the other hand, stood opposite Rosani and Klenaya, suspended above the floating island, forming a triangle, encompassing half of the floating island's sky, blocking some startled Wyvern from escaping.

Although the three True Dragon could not completely control the aerial domain of the floating island, these Wyverns still dared not cross past the True Dragon.

The innate suppression of their bloodline made them only dare to flee to what they considered the safest places in their Wyvern hearts.

"You guys, why do you disturb our habitat?"

"For thousands of years, we have lived here, never having conflicts with other races; even those seemingly weak elves, we have never harmed them!"

From deep within the cave below the mountain peak, a strange yet angry voice resonated; although the language spoken was neither Dragon Language nor the common tongue of the world of Ekania, the few True Dragons could all understand the meaning of the other party's words.

Tap, tap, tap.

Light footsteps echoed from deep within the cave, along with the sound of some gravel falling to the ground, and then a massive body squeezed out from within the cave.

This Wyvern, with scales of several colors on its body, looked as if it had been dyed by a spilled paint bucket; several distinct color patterns extended from its massive head to the base of its tail spine.

The Wyvern's body, over thirteen meters long, was sufficiently massive; its head was even larger than that of the Female Red Dragon Klenaya.

Moreover, this type of Wyvern did not possess the ability to control their innate magical power like True Dragon, so their flight relied more on their wings and other bodily organs.

A wingspan of twenty-eight meters was an adaptation this Wyvern had evolved to ensure its flight capability and aerial maneuverability.

Furthermore, this Wyvern leader also had several whiskers growing under its jaw, similar to those of a Gold Dragon, but the Wyvern leader's whiskers were like translucent crystal, resembling transparent tubes, with various colored glints constantly flashing within them.

Just now, the Wyvern leader vibrated the whiskers under its jaw, emitting a type of sound wave similar to synesthesia, to communicate with the few True Dragon.

The Wyvern leader's feet were also different from the Wyverns of Ekania; the feet of these strange types of Wyvern were more like those of felines, with thick paw pads.

Therefore, even though this Wyvern leader's body was as large and strong as that of a typical young True Dragon, its movements were very quiet when it walked; if it did not intentionally make a sound, it might be able to approach its prey silently.

"It's not about your race; it's about us, the Dragon clan, finding you useful, so we came!"

Klenaya stood on the mountaintop, her slender neck extended forward, her head, which was beginning to show the majesty of a Red Dragon, swayed, bluntly stating her purpose.

The nature of a Red Dragon was fully embodied in this Female Red Dragon.

"Hurry up and decide, surrender or challenge us; I still need to go communicate and bond with the Tree of Life," Rosani urged impatiently; if it weren't for the fact that subduing this Wyvernleader was beneficial for controlling the Wyvern tribe, he would have already rolled up his claws and started fighting directly.

Moreover, the True Dragon in the Dragon clan now learned to cherish resources, and whatever resources they had, they wanted to bring into the Dragon clan; this was a manifestation of the True Dragon's nature influenced by Kalon in another aspect.

The True Dragon in the Dragon clan learned to share; not only did they learn to share their own things, but they also preferred to share others' things.

In the eyes of these True Dragons, the Wyvern tribe was also a resource, not a creature with freedom.

Green Dragon Antagena narrowed her slender eyes slightly, revealing a dangerous glint. As long as this Wyvern leader challenged any of the True Dragons, the Green Dragon would unhesitatingly signal her companions to swarm forward.

In the Green Dragon's view, retracting her promise was merely normal operation; even many young True Dragons in the Dragon clan had been thoroughly fooled by this Green Dragon.

Therefore, Green Dragon Antagena's previous social isolation was not without reason; this Female green Dragon had not yet been able to control the influence of the Evil Dragon bloodline for most of the time, unlike her other companions.

"My name is Swift Shadow, the strongest king and leader among our kind. The greatest strength of our kind is not our bodies or other abilities, but our speed, like the fleeting passage of time."

The Wyvern leader remained silent for a long time, then suddenly spoke: "That green fellow, I could have kept you last time, but too much peace has dulled my ferocity."

"However, it won't be so easy for you to make our kind surrender to you, hehe," the Wyvern leader suddenly raised its head, letting out a strange shriek from its mouth, and its crystalline whiskers under its jaw also vibrated at this moment, emitting a strange sound wave that affected the mental and physical reactions of the few True Dragon.

The few True Dragon actually felt their minds were subjected to some kind of dizzying effect, which was extremely incredible.

Even if these young True Dragon had not yet grown to the point of being immune to all stunning spells, they still possessed extremely strong resistance to such negative control spells.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

The next moment, countless Wyvern with dazzling scales shrieked, and streams of light, the same color as their own scales, flowed over each of them.

They unleashed unimaginable speed, rushing out of their caves like arrows from a bowstring, scattering and fleeing around the floating island.

The leader of the Wyverns, this huge Wyvern named Swift Shadow, had dazzling streams of light surging over its body, and a myriad of colors flowed within its crystalline whiskers.

The magical power brought by these flowing lights and vibrant colors caused the Wyvernleader's body to materialize into a phantom the moment it soared into the sky—an illusion left by extreme speed.

Whoosh, this Wyvern leader's speed was far greater than that of ordinary Wyvern; the sound it made as its body cut through the air was actually a continuous series, but it did not cause an air burst like Kalon.

The three True Dragon, who had just recovered their senses, could only see the empty, massive floating island and the Wyvern leader's triumphant laughter.

"Hahahaha, you arrogant and conceited True Dragon, go conquer the air!"

The Wyvern leader Swift Shadow laughed triumphantly, its crystalline whiskers vibrating, transmitting through this sound wave to contact its tribe, who would reassemble and settle down in the distance.

But the Wyvern named Swift Shadow, moving at extreme speed, suddenly discovered a strange creature silently suspended in the sky ahead, staring at him expressionlessly.

This creature was like the humanoid form of those True Dragons, with thick, upward-pointing True Dragon horns and stern, crimson scales that made this creature, which appeared to be only a little over three meters tall, exceptionally imposing.

"Are you with them too? Little guy, you can't stop me," the Wyvern Swift Shadow increased his speed even further; his flying phantom trailed behind him like a continuous curtain, and he turned to fly in another direction.

But not far ahead, the strange creature still faced him, silently suspended in the air, maintaining an expressionless face.

"Damn it, I don't believe it," Swift Shadow pushed his speed to the limit; the vibrant flow of colors overflowing his body even managed to eliminate the sound of breaking through air resistance, and he turned his head, flying in another direction.

But this speed, pushed to its limit, was something he himself could not easily control at this moment, and in the next instant, he collided head-on with the strange creature that appeared like a ghost in his flight path.

Bang!

The imagined scene of smashing the opponent to pieces did not happen; instead, Swift Shadow's head was gently pressed down by a red claw.

At that instant, the strange creature unleashed its true form, transforming into a Red Dragon that even Swift Shadow felt was the ultimate explanation of the words 'power' and'strength.'

Boom!

This incredibly strong Red Dragon pressed Swift Shadow's head, directly plummeting to the ground, embedding the Wyvern's head and its long neck deep into the earth, completely embedding Wyvern Swift Shadow's entire body in the pit.

Swift Shadow only felt as if ten thousand noisy crows were cawing in unison inside his head, or as if his head were covered by a large bell, with countless people surrounding the bell, scrambling to strike it.

Innumerable flickering golden stars sparkled in its dazed eyes, and the pain in its body seemed insignificant under the intense mental shock, or rather, the severely attacked mind simply did not feel the physical pain.

It was unclear how long passed before the Wyvern leader finally regained some semblance of consciousness; even so, its eyes, still seeing multiple phantoms, occasionally perceived the Red Dragon before it as the previous Wyvern leader who had raised it.

And also the tribal king who had once led their race to prosperity, a Wyvern rumored to be faster than light in the sky.

Clang, clang, clang!

Kalon bent his True Dragon claw, gently tapping the still dazed Wyvern's head, so as not to accidentally kill the fellow.

Although Kalon's speed was astonishing, he could not match the speed of this Wyvern; he was able to easily stop this Wyvern because of foresight spells.

These spells were used by him in the mental domain; in front of a master of the mental domain, this not-so-advanced spell displayed wondrous effects.

"You see, this world is like this: if you don't become the hunter, you can only become the prey!"

Kalon's claw gently tapped on Wyvern leader Swift Shadow's hard skull; a strange rhythm carrying a magical power smoothed out the Wyvern leader's still dizzy and confused mental state, allowing the Red Dragon's words to penetrate more deeply into the Wyvern leader's mind.

"So, do you want to become a hunter under my command?" Kalon's thick fangs glinted with a cold light, and he said indifferently: "Of course, this is not a choice for you, but my notification. It is a notification of my favor, or, a notification of death!"
