Chapter 6 - The Heir vs. The Void

Elias Valerius didn't stand up. He didn't need to.As the heir to the family that had "bought" the universe, his very presence was a gravitational constant. The "Concept Sphere" he tossed idly in his hand was the Concept of Ownership. Anything his light touched belonged to him—the air, the stones, and if he willed it, the blood in Kai's veins."You've made a mess, Null," Elias said, his voice smooth as silk and cold as a dying sun. "My father is furious about the sky. Do you have any idea how much it costs to render a sunrise in 16K resolution across a whole planet?""I don't care about your sunrise," Kai said. He was standing at the edge of the docks. Behind him, Lyra and the Archivist were frantically trying to jump-start an old Void-Skipper, a ship designed to sail through the gaps between realities. "I care about the fact that your sunrise is a cage."Elias laughed. It was a hollow, terrifying sound. "A cage? No. It's a garden. And you… you are a weed that has finally grown tall enough to be plucked."Elias flicked the sphere in his hand toward Kai.It didn't fly like a ball. It expanded.[CONCEPTION: EMINENT DOMAIN]The world turned white. The docks, the ship, the screaming sirens—everything was instantly painted with a golden seal.System Warning: [CRITICAL CONCEPTUAL BREACH]Alert: [PROPERTY STATUS CHANGING... USER 'KAI' IS BEING RE-CLASSIFIED AS 'ASSET OF VALERIUS']Kai felt his own skin begin to glow with that sickening golden light. His fingers wouldn't move because his fingers no longer belonged to him. His thoughts began to feel heavy, as if someone were editing his memories in real-time."I… own… myself," Kai wheezed, his knees hitting the metal floor."Not anymore," Elias said, finally standing up. He walked toward Kai with the grace of a predator. "In this city, everything has a price. I just paid for your soul."Kai felt the Void in his chest retreating. The "Rejection" was being rejected by the sheer weight of "Ownership."Existence Stability: [62%... 58%... 54%]If I lose my identity, I lose the Void, Kai realized. If I become his 'property,' I become part of his Law."Kai! Use the Lead!" Lyra's voice came from far away, distorted by the golden field. But the lead coin was already turning into gold in Kai's hand. The "Ownership" was absolute.No.Kai's eyes snapped open. The black pits of his pupils began to leak a thick, ink-like smoke."You think you can buy the Void?" Kai's voice was no longer human. It sounded like a tectonic plate snapping. "You think you can own Nothing?"[HIDDEN PROTOCOL ACTIVATED: SYSTEM OVERLOAD][FORCED TRANSCENDENCE: RANK 3 - THE GREAT DENIAL]"I REJECT THE CONCEPT OF VALUE!"The golden light didn't just flicker—it turned into ash.The gold on Kai's skin peeled off like burnt paper. The golden seal on the ship shattered. The "Concept Sphere" in Elias's hand suddenly became a piece of worthless, gray glass. In that moment, Kai had deleted the very idea that one thing could be worth more than another. To the universe, a diamond and a piece of dirt were now the same. Elias's "Ownership" relied on the universe agreeing that his status had value.Kai had just revoked that agreement."What did you do?" Elias screamed, his perfect face contorting in rage. "My Law! I can't feel my Law!""Your Law is a lie told to people with empty pockets," Kai said.He didn't run. He lunged.Kai didn't use a fist. He opened his palm and pressed it against Elias's chest.[ABSOLUTE REJECTION: THE CONCEPT OF 'AUTHORITY']The shockwave was silent.Elias Valerius, the prince of the world, was hit by the raw weight of the Void. His white hair turned black. His golden eyes turned gray. The "Authority" that allowed him to stand above others was stripped away, leaving him as nothing more than a shivering, powerless human. The city around them began to collapse. Without the "Value" and "Authority" of the Valerius Family to hold it together, Orizon was literally falling apart into raw data."The ship is ready!" Lyra yelled, the Void-Skipper's engines humming with a purple, unstable light. "Kai, get in! The whole Sector is going to erase!"Kai looked at Elias, who was crawling on the floor, weeping. He could kill him now. He could end the Valerius bloodline here. But the System was screaming.System Warning: [EXISTENCE STABILITY: 41%]Critical: [USER IS NO LONGER COMPATIBLE WITH THIS DIMENSION]If Kai stayed for even one more second to finish the job, he would vanish forever."Go!" Kai shouted, leaping onto the deck of the ship as it began to lift.As the Void-Skipper tore a hole in the fabric of the city and dove into the dark, swirling "Between," Kai looked back.He saw Orizon—the golden city—turning into a cloud of gray dust. He saw the "Eyes" in the true sky blinking, watching as the first piece of their world was finally deleted.Kai slumped against the railing, his body flickering like a dying candle."We got out," Lyra said, rushing to his side. She looked out at the endless, chaotic void outside the ship's windows. "But Kai… there's no city left. There's nowhere to go back to."Kai looked at the lead coin in his hand. It was back to being lead—heavy, gray, and real."Good," Kai whispered, closing his eyes as his Stability finally leveled out at 40%. "I was tired of that world anyway. Let's find one that doesn't have a price tag."
