Chapter 108 - Chapter 108

"I'm Esme Cullen, Alice's mom. And recent friend or old friend, its still a friend no? I wasn't expecting a visit but it's great to have you here Alan, Alice hasn't really brought any friends home before." Esme said as her eyes roamed over Alan, his features were almost as striking as her own and her families, it was clear that everyone standing here at the stairs was… different than a regular person. In human terms, Alan himself and the two vampires looked closer to movie characters than actual people, something that Alan still hadn't completely realised himself.

"Uh yeah." Alan replied to her almost awkwardly as he gave a nod of his head, he wasn't sure what to say or talk to her about and so he decided almost instantaneously that the best course of action would be to simply stay silent and let the woman lead the conversation.

"Allright then, let's get inside, it's impolite to leave the guests standing outside for this long. Follow along Alan. We can talk more inside." Esme said with that soft almost motherly tone of hers as she gave one final smile towards Alan before she turned and started heading up the small staircase and towards the front door of the mansion.

Alice didn't hesitate even slightly as she instantly started following her adoptive mother, however a mere few steps later, she stopped for a moment as she turned her head back towards Alan who had yet to take a single step.

"What are you waiting for slowpoke? You want me to carry you too? Are you still… too scared to walk?" Alice asked teasingly as her expression swiftly changed into a teasing smirk that was practically goading Alan.

'That… annoying face.' Alan thought to himself, however with or without him truly noticing it, Alice had managed to do what she had been trying to since they had left Alan's apartment.

She had been trying to get his mind off of what had happened and towards something more light hearted, even if that light hearted emotion was annoyance instead of the revenged fueled anger that Alan had been feeling before.

Walking behind the two woman, Alan kept looking around as he took in the sights, there was a terrace around the staircase that went on one side and on the other side, the garage that held multiple cars stood, each car was practically brand new, a complete difference from the cars that one would usually see being driven about around Forks.

On the terrace on the other side of the staircase, there was a frankly almost uncountable number of flowers inside of large pots, each and every single one of them looked to be placed perfectly so that they wouldn't be cluttered and create a mess but would rather enhance the overall aesthetic of the woodland mansion. The flowers besides the seemingly perfect placing were also perfectly healthy.

'I don't know if i've ever seen flowers like this before if I'm being honest.' Alan thought to himself before he shook his head as he regathered his scattered thoughts once more and finally walked inside of the building together with the two other women.

Entering inside, Alan first arrived at a small hallway, at the sides of which were two long drawers with countless shoes perfectly lined up on each row and side.

'That's… a lot.' He thought to himself as he kept following the two women further inside of the mansion.

The deeper he walked inside, the crazier the home became, it wasn't just the countless shoes, it was the fact that every single part of the building seemed to have been meticulously and perfectly planned ahead of time for the best and most aesthetically pleasing combination possible.

That however was just one of the shocks, the other was the large canvas paintings that lined on the walls, they weren't the classical paintings that he had seen in books or thought that rich folks liked, instead they were more modern, some of them being abstract or created with a more interesting art style than ones that he would usually find in picture books or in tv shows.

"The paintings… look pretty good." Alan said softly as he followed Alice and Esme Cullen.

"Oh, thank you, I worked on most of them, besides a select few that I just bought from my favourite artists." Alice replied, her voice light.

"You worked on them? You can paint?" Alan asked as his eyes widened slightly, that hadn't been something he was expecting, especially not from someone like Alice.

'Someone like her… that clearly has some kind of hyperactivity thing going on, actually sat down for hours and worked on a painting?' Alan thought to himself in complete disbelief, he couldn't even imagine it, no matter how much he tried, the image of Alice sitting in the same spot for hours simply didn't compute inside of his brain, it was something that he would have never believed if it wasn't for the fact that Esme who was walking just slightly ahead of Alice nodded her head.

'I guess… she is multi-facated? Don't judge a book by its cover and all that. Guess it's true.' Alan thought as he lightly shook his head.

It was at that moment that the three of them finally arrived, the hall ended and the room expanded into a large living room with an open kitchen at the far side of it and there they were.

Seated around the large leather couches. The rest of the Cullen Coven.
