The underground cavern fell into an oppressive silence.
Black Zetsu struggled in Tobirama's grasp, its body twisting like living sludge, but no matter how it tried to sink into the ground, the gravitational pressure around it made escape impossible.
"Let go of me…! You don't understand what you're dealing with!" Black Zetsu hissed, its voice sharp and panicked.
Tobirama ignored it.
He stood before the massive Gedo Statue, the dim light of the cavern casting long shadows across his face. His Six Tomoe Rinnegan rotated slowly, cold and absolute.
"Madara," Tobirama said calmly, "instead of clinging to your illusion…"
"See for yourself."
He tightened his grip.
Rinnegan ability activated.
Genjutsu: Soul Reading.
A surge of ocular power poured into Black Zetsu's body.
"NO—!" Black Zetsu screamed, its voice abruptly breaking into distortion.
Its body convulsed violently as countless fragmented images began spilling into the air like shattered glass.
Memories.
Not fabricated ones—but buried truths.
The cavern filled with flickering scenes:
A pale figure emerging from the God Tree.
The birth of the Ten-Tails.
A woman—Ōtsutsuki Kaguya—standing alone at the peak of power.
And then…
Betrayal.
Sealing.
Division into two sons.
The cycle continuing endlessly.
Madara's eyes widened.
"What… is this…?"
His voice, once domineering, now carried uncertainty for the first time.
The images continued.
Black Zetsu, not as Madara's will—but as Kaguya's consciousness, manipulating centuries of history. Indra. Ashura. The Uchiha. The Senju. Every reincarnation. Every conflict.
All carefully arranged steps.
A system of reincarnation not of destiny—but of control.
Madara's breathing grew heavier.
"No… that's impossible…"
But the memories did not stop.
The stone tablet at the shrine.
Altered text layered over the original truth.
The Infinite Tsukuyomi—not salvation, but a method to prepare humanity as a vessel for resurrection.
White Zetsu armies—failed prototypes.
A farm, not a dream world.
Madara's fingers trembled against the Gedo Statue's chains.
"You're lying…" he growled, but his voice lacked conviction now. "This is… genjutsu…"
Tobirama stepped forward, releasing Black Zetsu, which collapsed to the ground like a drained mass of ink.
"Genjutsu doesn't create history," Tobirama said flatly. "It only reveals what already exists."
Black Zetsu tried to retreat, but the space around it had already been sealed.
"No… no… stop looking…!" it screeched, voice breaking into desperation.
But it was too late.
The final memory surfaced.
Kaguya's consciousness fragmenting.
The creation of Black Zetsu itself—not as a servant, but as a tool of continuation.
A thousand years of manipulation.
A thousand years of lies.
Silence returned to the cavern.
Madara did not speak for a long time.
His eyes remained open, but the arrogance within them had cracked.
"…So that's it," he finally said hoarsely.
"My dream… my peace…"
A bitter laugh escaped him.
"All of it… just another layer of manipulation?"
The chains behind him rattled as his chakra fluctuated violently.
Anger.
Humiliation.
And beneath it… disbelief that he had been led this far without seeing the truth.
Tobirama observed him quietly.
"You were strong enough to reshape the world," Tobirama said. "But not strong enough to question the foundation it was built on."
Madara's head lowered slightly.
For the first time in decades, he looked… still.
Black Zetsu, realizing the situation had collapsed completely, began to sink into the ground in a final attempt to escape.
Tobirama raised a hand.
"Stay."
Gravity surged.
The earth hardened like steel.
Black Zetsu was pinned in place.
Madara slowly lifted his head again, his voice low.
"If what you said is true…"
"…then what am I supposed to believe in now?"
Tobirama's Rinnegan reflected faintly in the darkness.
"You don't need belief," he said.
"You need reality."
A pause.
Then he added—
"And reality is simple."
"You were never the one moving the board."
"You were just another piece on it."
The cavern trembled slightly as Madara's chakra surged again—but this time, it was unstable, conflicted.
For the first time in his life…
Uchiha Madara had no immediate answer.
