Oh a black watery textured floor Arthur laid unconscious. As he awoke, he looked around the room to see a completely black room, but yet he could see. The walls that seemed so far away but yet close and the watery floor that didn't get you wet.
As Arthur got to his feet he called out "HELLO" "IS ANYONE HERE?" Nobody responded to these questions, so Arthur started to walk around and explore the details of this room. Before long a light started to shine from the ceiling and a figure came down.
"Young Arthur Bennett, it is a pleasure to finally meet your acquaintance" quickly Arthur turned around to be met with a figure whose face couldn't be made out, it was blurry and distorted. "Who are you? And how do you know who I am?"
"Well, you can think of me as a friend, you can call me bubs" the figure said "as for how I know who you are, it's my job to know. You are 14-year-old Arthur Bennett, and my newest addition to a game I have going on"
Arthur took a step back "game? I don't want to be part of any game! I want to go home! Send me home!" "Oh, dear boy you don't really have a choice, well, you do but I think you will prefer to play once you find out that you have died" the news drops Arthur to his knees "died? I'm dead?"
"Oh, don't look so sad kid, it's not all bad." "ALL THAT BAD? I'M DEAD ITS DOESNT GET ANY WORSE THAN THAT"
Bubs chuckles "you would be surprised. Besides, I'll bring you back once you agree to join my game. See? look not that bad right? I get a new player, and you get to live, everyone wins. I'll even throw in some bonuses that only you get, how does that sound?" Arthur wipes the tears from his face and looks up at the bubs
"What kind of game is it? And what kind of bonuses are you talking about?" "That's the spirit kid! Well so the game is I pick a few people and give them a special quirk you could say, they just have to live. That's the game, sounds easy right?" Arthur finally gets to his feet "what kind of quirk are you talking about?" "I can't tell you that, I could only tell you what you will get once you play"
Arthur starts to walk in circles for a second "what about the bonuses you mention?" "A boy who doesn't forget, I like that. Well, if you join my game, I'll give you two special quirks and a trial period to try them out, how does that sound?" Arthur doesn't hesitate, his mind has been made up for a few seconds now, wanting to be alive to see his family "deal, how do I sign up" bubs summons a chair out of the black liquid and sits down "you already did now sit down boy and let me pick your quirks" bubs waves his hand as another chair builds itself out of the black liquid
Arthur walks over and sits in the chair as bubs closes his eyes and starts to think. He places his hand on Arthur's head, and a glow starts to shine around him "I grant you the power of increased strength giving you more strength and the power of foresight to be able to see what's coming. I will not tell you how they work or how to use them, that is for you to find out, I will also not tell you how to develop them, everything is for you to discover and learn. I suggest you use this trial period to understand your new quirks" Arthur stands up for the chair "I don't feel any different" Bubs laughs
"You don't feel a change because it has just become a part of you. Make no mistake kid, you are unlike anyone else now, you started with two quirks nobody else has. People are going to be coming for you the moment they find out, once you die again your powers will go to those who have killed you and the same goes to those you kill. Now that you are part of the game I must warn you, it won't just be people hunting you but monsters and abominations too. Keep your head up, I will be watching and I will see you again. Goodbye Arthur, have fun."
"Wait WAIT WHA…." Arthur shoots up in a panic and looks around to see a hospital room filled with get well cards, balloons and flowers "huh? Was that all a dream? Why am I in the hospital?" "Oh, you're awake, that's good. I wasn't sure if you" a doctor walks in "Arthur Bennett, the luckiest person alive, I would say go play the lottery, but I think you used up all your luck ""why do you say that doctor?"
"Well, you were in a car crash, a pretty bad one at that. Your seatbelt saved you for the most part. You are extremely lucky. I'll let your parents know your awake, I'll be back in a minute"
Arthur watched as the doctor left the room, once alone Arthur jumped out of bed and ran to a mirror where he looked at himself all bandaged and stitched up "it had to be a dream right?"
The next hours passed as minutes as Arthur got discharged and picked up by a driver from his family. Once he made it home, he walked to his room passing his little brother and little sister's room. He dropped his bag on the floor and collapsed on his bed
"There is no way any of this is real right? Yeah, it's just because of the crash, I was unconscious. That means it had to be a dream. I can't worry about these things, they make my head hurt so badly." Arthur grabbed his head in pain and turned to his side "I need to sleep, I got school tomorrow" the alarm clock next to his bed read 11:54. Arthur slowly shut his eyes and quickly fell asleep
The sounds of an alarm rings out filling the room "damnnnnnn five more minutes please" the alarm kept ringing "fine" Arthur got out of bed and turned off the alarm stopping by the mirror, he took his shirt off and looked at the damage he took in the crash.
He had a bandage over one of his orange eyes, his dark black eye brow over his good eye was split in two, the sides of his head were shaved and had some cuts, his hands bandaged up and a mysterious black symbol on his just beneath his waist band. "That crash really did a number on me. What's this black thing?" He rubs it but it doesn't come off "that's strange, i wonder what that could" before he could finish he sentence a knock came from his door "yeah?"
Just then his door busted open and his little sister came running and "ARTHUR" she yelled as she jumped onto him "you were gone for so long, are you okay? Where have you been? What's with all these bandages?" Arthur laughed "I'm okay, I'm here now. I was just in a car crash but I'm okay I promise" Arthur lifts her up and sees his little brother standing at his door "you want a hug too?" His little brother scoff "No, of course not" just then Arthur gave him a surprise hug "you know you don't have to act all hard all the time you know" without saying any words his little brother hugged him back "I'm glad your okay"
"Okay you two need to get ready for school, ill go make breakfast. I'll be going in just to explain what happened but I'll be back to pick you guys up, jack I want you to look after lisa today, okay? I won't be there but if she needs help it's up to you okay?" "Yeah, i got it" "now you two be ready in a bit, ill go get start on breakfast"
Arthur quickly got dressed and made his way downstairs where he started to cook his siblings breakfast. Once they finished eating he walked with them to school. At the entrance they all hugged goodbye "remember jack it's you job to watch out for Lisa, I'll be here as soon as schools done" jack nodded and ran inside with Lisa
"Now then where do I go to tell them what happened? Maybe the nurse? I guess that's where I'll start" making his way to the nurse. The feeling that he was being watched followed Arthur even before he made his way into the school but once he made his way inside it got worse. Everyone looking at him all bandaged up "this is getting embarrassing, I need to hurry."
Once in the nurses office Arthur knocked on the door "excuse me I…." "OH MY GOODNESS WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU" the nurse started to check every part of Arthur "are you okay? What happened? When did this happen? Is this why you've been missing a lot of school?" "Yea I'm sorry I was in a car crash and I came to report that I'm okay and everything" "you should be home, I'll make sure the office is informed but I'm sending you home. Come back next week. Take this week off. Go hurry, your bed needs you."
Arthur quickly got pushed out of the nurses office and into the now empty hallway "well I guess I have a free week, that's cool" making his way throughout the school and out the front door the feeling of being watched doesn't leave him. Once away from the school grounds the feeling fades but it's still there in moments "I need to grab some groceries before I make my way home"
Stopping at the local grocery store Arthur grabs some items and goes to make his way outside when an older lady in an electric scooter hits the curb and flips over "HELP, HELP, SOMEONE HELP ME!" Arthur quickly places his groceries on the floor and runs over to help. "Don't worry I got you ma'am" he lifts the scooter up like it was less then Forty pounds and helps the old lady up "your okay ma'am here you go" "oh thank you so much" Arthur waves the old lady off "that scooter was kinda light, there's no way that was real, right?"
Shaking the thought he grabs his groceries from the floor and makes his way home, once inside he places the groceries on the counter and sits for a second. The trip winded him. He sits on the couch and closes his eyes and a vision of a girl knocking on his door appears in his mind. He quickly opens his eyes "why would I be thinking of Alyssa knocking on my door? I don't ever talk to"
Knock knock knock
Frozen Arthur waits for a second "there is no chance that's her right?" Slowly Arthur stands up and tips toes to the door and looks through the peep hole. "No fucking way, that's not fucking possible" he opens the door "Alyssa? What are you doing here?"
"Oh Arthur I'm glad to finally see you, I started to think the worst. What happened to you? Are you okay? The school sent me here to check up on you till we found out if you were okay ""I just went to the school and told them I'm okay I'm sorry they sent you ""oh it's okay, the information probably didn't make it to the teacher before he sent me here. Anyway, those bandages look dirty, you need help changing them?"
Arthur stood there thinking about when the last time was, he took a shower and changed his bandages "I mean I could use the help for sure, please come in" blushing Alyssa walks into Arthur's house.
