Chapter 167 - Shadows of the Symbiotes 1

"Huchi~huchi~"

"Push harder! Work harder! We're almost there!"

"Huchi~huchi~"

"Snap!"

Eddie couldn't take it anymore. He collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily like an old dog, sweat pouring down his face, his cheeks flushed from exhaustion.

The Venom symbiote had been sealed inside a small bottle, and Renzo held it in the palm of his hand. His expression was serious. "Get up. Is this really all you can do? How are you supposed to protect the world if you keep going like this?"

Eddie raised his head with difficulty and muttered, "I never wanted to protect the Earth..." Before he could finish, a fist slammed into his face, sending two white teeth flying from his mouth.

Renzo remained standing, expressionless, as if he hadn't just thrown the heavy punch.

"This isn't something you get to decide. Fate chose you. You have to accept your responsibilities and pay the price. There is no such thing as a free lunch." Renzo looked coldly at Eddie, who was sprawled on the ground. Heavy blows, especially those to the head and abdomen, were the most dangerous.

However, those injuries were nothing to Venom. Once the symbiote merged with Eddie again, they would naturally heal. Renzo therefore hadn't held back. He was probably training Eddie with the same intensity Steve had once used on the Avengers, but without Venom, Eddie was just an ordinary man whose only advantage was being relatively tough.

No matter how hard he trained him, Renzo was still afraid of accidentally beating him to death.

From Venom 1 and 2, it was obvious that Eddie's fighting ability was almost nonexistent. He looked fierce and intimidating, but he was bullied from beginning to end. He was timid and relied almost entirely on Venom. Otherwise, if Eddie had to control his own body and fight, the result would be completely one-sided, with him getting crushed.

Therefore, Renzo needed to train Eddie's physical fitness and combat skills properly. He couldn't have Eddie get beaten senseless by Carnage or some other enemy in the future, only to rely on his ex-girlfriend to save him in the end. That would be far too embarrassing!

"Treat him."

Venom silently returned to Eddie's body. The symbiote's unique properties allowed Eddie to recover from almost any injury within seconds. However, a concussion was something even Venom couldn't immediately fix. He was a symbiote, not a parasitic creature that could hollow out its host and control the body on its own.

Venom shuddered. Just now, while he was in the man's hand, he had felt as though he were sitting on a block of ice. It wasn't that Renzo's body was physically cold. Rather, he constantly radiated an aura of extreme indifference, as cold as the Antarctic.

Recalling his battle with Renzo the night before, Venom remembered how easily the man had subdued him. Renzo's body was practically indestructible. Every punch Venom landed had struck him squarely, yet it felt like hitting a wall of solid steel.

Venom was stunned. He had never encountered a body that hard. He was certain there could be no human being like this on Earth. Renzo was like an Iron Man wearing human skin.

Eddie slowly woke from his unconsciousness, but when he saw Renzo's cold, serious expression, he immediately recoiled from him and retreated to the edge of the ring.

That's right—the arena.

On the first day Renzo arrived in this world, he had stolen the bank accounts of some of the world's richest people. After confirming that this was the Venom universe, he began searching for Eddie Brock's residence. By coincidence, not long after he sat down, Eddie came home.

After a brief interaction, Renzo discovered the weaknesses of Eddie and Venom, so he bought a private underground arena as a place to train them.

Perhaps because of his connection to the Cartel, he actually had some fondness for Venom. He wiped his hands and announced that today's training was over.

Not wanting to listen to Eddie's complaints afterward, Renzo rose into the air and gradually disappeared into the night sky. He still had things to do.

...

At a military base in Chicago, a blue symbiote crawled slowly inside a glass enclosure.

"Resurrected! It's resurrected!" the researcher exclaimed, pointing at the glass enclosure.

The middle-aged officer in charge maintained a serious expression, but his body trembled slightly with excitement, and even his voice carried a hint of surprise. "Are the symbiote's movements under control?"

"It has been implanted with a control chip. Everything it does will be according to our instructions."

The researcher seemed afraid that the officer wouldn't believe him, so he immediately waved his hand. A door suddenly opened in the enormous glass enclosure, and an examination table slowly entered. A muscular man with short hair was strapped to it. He appeared to have been given an anesthetic and remained unconscious.

Surprisingly, he had no legs.

The blue symbiote instantly sensed the human presence. Its instincts drove it to crawl toward the man, enter his body, and absorb his strength.

"Stop where you are!"

The researcher spoke quietly, and his voice echoed through the speakers inside the enclosure. The blue symbiote, which had been about to move, immediately stopped, its body stiffening like a soldier obeying orders.

The officer's eyes lit up, and the researcher immediately issued a second command.

At the same time, a device suddenly rose from the floor of the enclosure, a fire burning atop it. The moment the blue symbiote saw it, it instinctively wanted to recoil. However, the first command was still active, and it couldn't move even if it wanted to. It was incapable of disobeying the instructions.

"Fire and sound are their weaknesses. Putting them together with flames is no different from locking a human and a tiger that's been starving for half a month in the same cage."

A sneer appeared at the corner of the researcher's mouth. He shouted into the microphone, "Stand in the flames!"

The blue symbiote flinched at the sudden shout, but its body remained motionless. When it heard the researcher's next command, it moved slowly toward the fire less than a meter away. Its twisted posture revealed the fear in its heart.

It was going to die!

Unfortunately, it had no way to resist.

The blue symbiote stepped into the fire. Within seconds, its body was engulfed in flames. For a newly resurrected symbiote, this was like having its limbs cut off before being riddled with bullets.

"That's enough!" the officer ordered coldly.

The researcher immediately pressed a button on the console. A large amount of water poured from the ceiling, extinguishing the flames and stopping the symbiote's death process just in time.

The researcher smiled, only for the officer to slam his face against the console. His cheek scraped across the buttons, the hard edges causing so much pain that he nearly cried out.

"How dare you treat the country's resources like this?" the officer said slowly, his words sending a chill through the researcher. "Do you think you're a hero just because you brought him back to life? This is what you're supposed to do."

The officer released his arm, paying no attention to the researcher's horrified expression.

Bang!

A gunshot rang out, and the researcher collapsed to the floor, his eyes vacant.

The officer straightened his hat, lowered his head toward the microphone, and said, "Go do what you were made to do. See that tough guy? Eat him!"

The blue symbiote's body was charred black, with only a few patches retaining their blue color. It lay listlessly on the floor, seemingly unmoved by the officer's words, as though it were already dead.

Was it dead?

Of course not.

The officer glanced at the symbiote's life-sign monitor. There was still a weak signal, proving that it remained alive.

Had the flames incapacitated it?

The officer pressed another button, and the bed carrying the muscular man immediately moved toward the symbiote until the two collided. The man's thick fingers happened to touch the blue symbiote's body. Like a fish returning to water, it immediately came back to life.

The officer watched with fascination as the blue symbiote slowly devoured the man, as though admiring a world-famous painting.

Soon, the muscular man disappeared, replaced by a two-meter-tall blue monster. It stared hungrily at the officers outside.

"I like that look in your eyes," the officer praised. "Then let me give you a name."

"How about... Riot?"

...

On the distant symbiote planet, a dark figure sat slumped upon a black throne. Long gray hair hung behind his head, and his dry, pale fingers suddenly twitched.

In an instant, the symbiotes across the entire planet erupted into chaos, surging in every direction and turning the world upside down.

It was like a pure black ocean, the symbiotes forming wave after wave, rising one after another and crashing forward.

The man moved his fingers again, and the waves instantly calmed, becoming as still as a frozen lake without the slightest ripple.

"Ah..."

With a sigh, tens of thousands of symbiotes suddenly exploded. Liquids of various colors mixed together, slowly converging until they condensed into a gigantic dragon.

The giant dragon crouched humbly before the throne. Most of its body was pitch black, streaked with gray-white liquid. Its eyes shone like two enormous lighthouses, while the top of its head was stained scarlet, thick as blood.

Knull stood up. He sensed that all the descendants he had sent to Earth seemed to have died, and he was somewhat surprised. Given Earth's technological capabilities, eliminating all four of his descendants should have required weapons of mass destruction, wiping out every trace of the symbiotes. Otherwise, even a single drop left behind would allow the symbiotes to return and regenerate.

Unfortunately, Knull wasn't particularly concerned with such details. He didn't understand human science, the friction that could ignite a fire, or the tremendous noise produced when a spacecraft landed. He had little interest in technology and even less desire to understand it. He believed only in his own strength. As for everyone else... they were insignificant.

"Contempt."

Knull called softly, and a purple symbiote suddenly appeared on the ground, sprawled there like a puddle of mucus. Knull suddenly laughed, then laughed louder and louder. His gaunt, sinister face stretched unnaturally long, his mouth opening far wider than a human's, like a snake.

"Go to Earth," Knull said without hesitation. With a wave of his hand, Contempt disappeared.

"Interesting... No matter which Earth it is, it's interesting..." Knull laughed wildly as the symbiote dragon beside him slowly rose, its enormous body curling around the throne.

All the symbiotes returned to their original chaotic state.

Chaos and order were what they pursued!

...

Renzo, on Earth, naturally knew nothing about the turmoil unfolding in the darkness. He was searching for Morbius, the man who had suffered from a blood disorder since childhood and later became a renowned blood researcher. At this point, he should still be worrying about his illness.

Unfortunately, Renzo hadn't fully watched the movie Morbius in his previous life. He had only seen some clips from short videos, including the post-credits scene. He knew a few details about the plot, including the villain's name, but not much else.

It wasn't really his fault. Back then, those movies could only be watched by circumventing the firewall.

The most important problem was that he didn't know where the events of Morbius took place. He only knew that it occurred roughly half a year after Venom 2. As for where Morbius was now... Renzo could only use his abilities to search online for traces of the doctor.

Morbius still had to buy plane tickets and bus tickets. He had to stay somewhere and eat somewhere.

As long as he had been to those places, he would inevitably leave traces.

The Internet was so developed that Renzo quickly investigated where Morbius lived.

Chicago.

Morbius was in his research institute, working with his head lowered as he moved around the small room in a white coat.

"Still not working!"

Morbius lost control of his emotions and angrily raised the test tubes on the table, intending to smash them against the floor, but stopped halfway. He couldn't bear to destroy the research results he had accumulated over more than a decade.

He was angry. Angry that more than ten years of effort had produced no results. His condition was getting worse and worse, and in a few years, even living a normal life might become impossible.

For him, simply staying alive was already a luxury.

Morbius shook his head in disappointment and covered his forehead. His condition had worsened again. He hurriedly grabbed the medicine bottle beside him, poured several pills into his trembling hand, and swallowed them. Only then did he feel some relief.

"Ha..." Morbius exhaled and turned around with difficulty.

"Hi!"

"???"

Morbius stared blankly at the man who had suddenly appeared, leaning against the doorway.

"Who are you?!" Morbius was so startled that he nearly collapsed on the spot. He quickly grabbed the scalpel beside him and waved it wildly in front of himself, trying to drive away the unknown man.

He instinctively wanted to figure out how this man had entered, but the situation before him left no time for speculation. His frail body was already supported against the table. Forget fighting—he barely had the strength to escape.

"Easy. Gentle! Don't move!"

The gem on Renzo's forehead flashed, and the power of his mind immediately affected the man's thoughts. Morbius calmed down at once, even his body becoming steadier.

"I'm here to save you, Dr. Morbius."

Renzo extended his hand and smiled kindly.

Morbius stared at the gem on Renzo's forehead. He had never seen such a strange power before. His curiosity about the unknown instinctively drew his attention toward it.

Maybe it really could save his life!

Morbius thought with some excitement.

Renzo chuckled. How could someone who had spent his entire life pursuing a way to live willingly give up any hope of survival? He had an accurate grasp of Morbius's thoughts. Faced with the threat of death, even if the chances of survival were slim, Morbius would still choose to believe.

I knew it!

Renzo smiled brightly.

As for Eddie in San Francisco, he suddenly felt a chill run through him. Venom felt it too. They both looked toward the sky at the same time, as though they could see a pair of blood-red eyes through the bright stars...
