Chapter 87 - Chapter 23: Merlin, that troll, is peeping as usual

Sighisoara is a classical town that focuses on medieval nostalgia.

Although there are some modern accessory shops and restaurants in the town, the decor and style aren't particularly eye-catching.

Combined with the dilapidated and crude architectural style, it's no wonder the town's tourism industry isn't very good.

However, the recent series of murders in the town might just become its new selling point.

After all, the victims all had their hearts excised by the killer.

But this has nothing to do with Daniel and the others.

The most serious problem right now is that Artoria has already eaten several restaurants along the way into town to the point where they had to close early.

If she keeps eating like this, I'm afraid it won't be long before they run into Mordred.

So, at this moment, one must...

"Sorry, you guys keep eating. I have something to ask Jeanne to help me with." Daniel grabbed the hand of Jeanne, who had just sat down to order, and ran out of the restaurant.

"What are you doing? What, what! I was just about to eat!" Jeanne asked, looking at Daniel somewhat reluctantly.

"Help me find a shop nearby that sells cameras." Daniel instructed Jeanne with an imposing aura. "Make it quick!"

"How would I know that! Can't you just ask the locals?" Jeanne asked, looking depressed.

"It looks suspicious if I go alone, and besides, not everyone gets a friendly response from passersby." Daniel dropped his imposing aura and flashed a harmless smile. "So, Jeanne-chan, could you trouble yourself to play the role of a poor high school girl out on a trip with her boyfriend, only to find that the camcorder she brought has gone missing?"

"...What kind of material is your skin made of?" Jeanne muttered, looking at Daniel in absurdity.

But in the end, she compromised.

After all, this partner of hers was too persistent.

"So, what are you buying a camera for? To record the town as a souvenir?" Jeanne asked, looking suspiciously at Daniel, who was holding the camera up to his eye to test it.

"Film the town? What's there to remember about this dump?" Daniel waved his hand, explaining, "I'm preparing for the scene when Artoria and Mo Zai meet later."

"You don't know, but last time I arrived a bit late and missed the moment when Mo Zai first descended and met Artoria, so I want to catch it live this time."

"You really don't do anything human, do you?" Jeanne muttered in a daze. "Oh, wait, Jack the Ripper. You do intend to do something human regarding that Servant."

"...You really do intend to do something human, right?" Jeanne suddenly began to lose confidence.

"Jeanne, look at what you're saying. I feel like your misunderstanding of me is far too deep." Daniel looked at Jeanne helplessly and shook his head. "How did such a passionate and sincere handsome young man like me become someone who doesn't do human things in your eyes?"

"...Alright, you don't have to say anything else." Jeanne gave up on digging deeper.

Anyway, she was already convinced.

Aside from Amakusa Shirou Tokisada, Daniel and his group were the biggest variables in this Holy Grail War!

However, the priority for dealing with this group was below Amakusa Shirou Tokisada, so Jeanne indicated she would have to keep enduring it.

"Hm!" Jeanne suddenly looked up towards a certain direction in the distance.

"What? Has a Servant entered the area?" Daniel asked, looking at Jeanne.

"Yes, the Red Faction's Saber has entered this town." Jeanne nodded. "That is, the Mordred you've been looking forward to every day. Do you want to go say hello to her?"

"Of course not." Daniel shook his head and decided to change course to meet up with Artoria and the others from a different direction. "Let's just let her have a good, peaceful meal first."

"Heroic Spirits don't need to eat to sustain themselves." Jeanne caught up to remind him. "As long as Saber's master doesn't break the connection with her, she only needs to absorb mana from her master."

"It's about the desire for food! The desire for food!" Daniel reminded her irritably. "Do you think that, given how much Artoria loves to eat, Mo Zai, who inherited some of her genes, wouldn't like to eat?"

"Ah, this..."

On the other side, ever since Mordred set foot into this town called Sighisoara, she suddenly felt uncomfortable all over.

"What's wrong? Saber." Shishigou Kairi noticed the abnormality in his Servant's behavior and took the initiative to ask.

"I don't know, I just feel like I'm itching all over." Mordred scratched her cheek, feeling somewhat annoyed. "Tsk, it's just like when I used to be targeted by that bastard Merlin."

"Merlin, huh... I recall that person was the court Magus of Britain, right? Is he very powerful?" Shishigou Kairi asked curiously.

"That bastard!" Mordred scratched her scalp. "If you say he's powerful, it feels quite annoying, but saying he's a weakling would be an exaggeration. Anyway, I challenged him quite a few times before I joined the Knights of the Round Table, and while I was never defeated by him head-on, I never won against him once either."

"Later, that guy disappeared. I started that rebellion, and I never saw that white-haired bastard appear; he probably died in some corner a long time ago." Mordred added, looking thoroughly annoyed.

"But now you have that feeling again... Could it be that the Black Faction is hiding a trump card that happens to be Merlin?" Shishigou Kairi speculated.

"No, it shouldn't be." Mordred shook her head. "If that guy really appeared, he would definitely have a large patch of flower petals as a background to set himself off when he showed up. In short, he's a show-off who can't properly hide himself."

"Achoo!" In Avalon, Merlin, who had been watching the situation in Romania from the top of the tower for the past two days, couldn't help but sneeze.

"Oh my, oh my, Sir Mordred seems to have quite a deep misunderstanding of me." Although he couldn't hear, Merlin could still read Mordred's lip movements.

"However, this time it's not big brother Merlin playing tricks, but the partner of your dear, respectable father from another IF timeline who's messing around." Merlin had a cheeky smile on his face. "Oh, this is bad, I've been provoked by his actions too. I suddenly feel like watching through Clairvoyance isn't satisfying enough, and I want to get closer to watch the live broadcast. What should I do?"

"However, it's so far away. If I were to run there, I doubt I'd make it within a day. Even if I did arrive, the show would likely be over long ago. Instead, I might end up suffering a double attack from Artoria and Sir Mordred. That wouldn't be worth it. Forget it, I'll just keep watching the show from here." Merlin shook his head, dismissing the idea of watching the scene in person, then sat silently atop the tower and sighed.
