THE ROLE BREAKER

CHAPTER 3: The Shadow Queen's Ego

Part 1: The False Alarm

Inside the clinical chill of the medical room, the silence was so absolute that the mechanical 'tick-tick' of the wall clock echoed loudly, almost mimicking the frantic racing of Diya's pulse. Ketero stood rigid, his grip tightening around his light blade as every single muscle in his body braced for a collision.

Khang! Khang!

The heavy metallic footsteps ground to a sudden halt just outside the door. Ketero held his breath, his eyes locked dead onto the handle. Suddenly, the door swung open, and two staff members walked in carrying boxes of medical supplies. They stopped in their tracks, visibly startled to find Ketero standing guard and Diya sitting wide-eyed on the examination bed

"What are you two doing in here?" one of the staff members questioned, his gaze narrowing with suspicion.

With a swift, practiced flick of his wrist, Ketero deactivated the light blade. The glowing energy vanished instantly, and he tucked his hands behind his back, his palms damp with nervous sweat. He forced a steadying breath, his heart hammering against his ribs. "Oh, nothing... the nurse told us to wait here. Everything is fine, we were just leaving.

Without waiting for a response, they brushed past the staff and hurried into the corridor. Once out of sight, Diya turned to Ketero, her voice a low, tremulous whisper. "Were we just overthinking things? Or are we being hunted?" Ketero exhaled a heavy, jagged sigh, his eyes scanning the shadows. "Maybe... but in this world, it's better to be paranoid than dead.

Part 2: The Desperate Run

They emerged into the open air, the cool breeze doing little to soothe their frayed nerves. Diya stopped, her shoulders slumped in exhaustion. "What are we going to do now, Ketero? I feel like I'm losing my mind. I'm a person of science—I don't know how to fight ghosts or whatever this is."

Ketero looked down, a wave of heavy guilt crashing over him. "I'm sorry, Diya. I've dragged you into a nightmare because I couldn't keep my distance. I never wanted you to be a target.

Diya shook her head, a flash of determination cutting through her fear. "Stop apologizing. Blame doesn't solve anything. We need a strategy."

Ketero hesitated, his jaw tightening. "There is one person who might understand this madness... but I absolutely loathe asking him for anything. He's arrogant, eccentric, and insufferably annoying."

"Who is it?" Diya asked

"My uncle," Ketero groaned. "Rudra."

They raced to the train station, but as they reached the platform, the last train was already picking up speed. Ketero didn't hesitate. He grabbed Diya, his expression grave. "Hold on to me. Do not let go, no matter what.

Before she could protest, he unleashed his neon energy. He vaulted forward with a surge of raw, kinetic force, propelling them both onto the roof of the final compartment. The wind roared, tearing at their clothes. Diya gasped, clutching his jacket so tightly her knuckles turned white. She was terrified, but for the first time, she felt the reality of Ketero's power—it was raw, dangerous, and completely beyond her scientific understanding.

Part 3: The Uncle's Sanctum

Uncle Rudra's estate sat atop a desolate hill, a relic of a bygone era that looked out of place in the modern city. As they entered the basement, Diya's rational mind recoiled. The room was a chaotic tapestry of the mystical—prayer plates, withered strings of lemon and chilies, and ancient scrolls layered over high-tech scanners.

"This... this is how you operate?" Diya asked, her voice tinged with disbelief.

Rudra walked out from the shadows. He looked impossibly young, his eyes holding a depth that felt centuries old. "Science explains the 'how', Diya. But we deal with the 'why'. We operate on soul-frequencies.

He listened to their account in silence, his expression darkening when Ketero described the 'Overheat Mode'. "This is no ordinary possession," Rudra murmured. "That pink entity you describe—it is a fragment of one of the Seven Queens of Ancient Folklore. She was a being of unmatched beauty and power, but her ego was a bottomless pit. It ultimately consumed her.

Part 4: The Ego Trap

Rudra produced a tarnished silver pendant, pressing it into Ketero's hand. "This will anchor her frequency. It won't cure her, but it will keep the 'Overheat' from burning her soul out.

He leaned in, his tone turning sharp. "But containment isn't enough. The Organ Man is an ancient, ego-driven parasite. He doesn't fear strength; he fears humiliation. If you fight him head-on, he will crush you. You must bait him. Challenge his pride. Show him that you hold the very power he covets most—the Queen's essence. When his ego takes over, he will make a mistake. That is when you strike.

He pulled Ketero aside, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper. "The moment she enters that Overheat state, she ceases to be Diya. She will be a conduit for that Queen. You must protect her, but you must be prepared to restrain her. Do not let your affection for her blind you to the danger.

Rudra turned and walked toward the exit, casting a knowing, playful smirk back at them. "Have fun, kids.

Ketero's face flushed a deep, embarrassed crimson. "Uncle, stay serious for once!"
