Casperius the vermin now age of 38 after writing his 3845th book had heard a knock on his door. Something strange as though he had been completely alone all his life, he'd not be expecting any company. Nevertheless he was actually glad someone had come upon his door.
Upon opening of the door he was met with a young girl, she was offering housing services in exchange for money. She'd offer to clean his yard and scrub his porch in exchange for about 60 nahds (olden currency, translates to about 40-50 usd). Casperius would decide to accept and the young girl, Erika, would come and do this every day and for about 15 houses a day.
From time, the vermin would speak with the young girl in hopes of sharing his knoweldge, he'd speak about all these things mana can do and of how he hopes to create a living being with a vessel made without life. Though young Erika would not understand any of this.
As they chat Erika would reveal she'd be doing these jobs to pay for her sickly mother with a condition that'd drain her mana triple the normal rate in a day. So she'd provide for her mother by working to buy mana bottles. She'd wish she could do anything to save her mother.
