Rayton stared at the pile of letters before quietly picking up one to read the name on it.
"…Matias Karim?"
Sez wasn’t frightened like Kaen, but she was confused, wondering whether she had done something wrong.
“Why is this man writing to you?”
“Oh, well…”
"He must have a death wish. How dare he write to a princess of his own accord?”
“He-he didn’t do it without permission!”
“…What?”
"We both agreed to it, and that's what we've been doing."
Sez hurriedly continued upon noticing Rayton clenching his jaw.
"I met him in the palace after the debutante ball… I think he felt bad that I had no friends."
“……”
"I mean, it’s no wonder. I was alone at the debutante ball and in the palace too. A-also, I heard that he has a heart of gold. It’s not that Lord Karim sent me letters of his… own accord…”
Rayton could see how things were going. It looked like that Lord whatever-his-name-was had first approached Sez whilst he was spending time with Carolyn Lygent.
