While it had already stopped snowing, the dark night sky was covered with white mist.
"Where are we going, brother?"
"I told you that it’d be better to see for yourself."
Sez pouted, wanting to know their destination in advance, but didn’t make it obvious. Rayton had actually taken Sez out of her quarters late at night, and she couldn’t help but wonder where they were headed.
‘Is it that hill we went to during the festival?’
However, Rayton didn't guide her toward the hill. The place he was heading for was, unexpectedly, in the direction of the Emperor's chamber. Toward the rear of his living quarters, to be exact.
Rayton looked back at Sez as he walked ahead.
“Watch your step."
"I am."
Sez answered, trying to quash Rayton’s worries, but she faltered as soon as the words left her lips since the snow was piled up to her ankle.
Rayton quickly reached out for her.
"Kyah!"
Sez yelped weakly as a firm hand gripped her waist.
