After Genise left, the marshland returned to a state of tranquility at a surprisingly quick pace. As if the filth attack had never happened, the knights and soldiers devoted themselves back to digging. It made me feel almost sorry for Greta, who might have struggled to send troops across the border.
"She's going to be upset when she hears about their failure," I told Haven, who just came back from nagging at the shoveling knights to strengthen their perimeter watch.
"If she believed it would work, she's just plain stupid," Haven replied, not hiding his disdain for Greta.
It was debatable whether it was fair to call her dumb for not anticipating the elite troops getting stuck digging in wartime conditions.
"She must be pretty desperate to even resort to those tactics," I commented.
