Chapter 4 - ACSP: Chapter 4: Contracting Genin, Publicly Dumped by Fiancée!

BMG: Chapter 4: Contracting Genin, Publicly Dumped by Fiancée!

Just then, a white light suddenly flashed beside Chen Chuxi.

A handsome young man stepped out from the light and appeared on the sports field. It was Jiang Chen, returning from the Contract Space.

"Brother Jiang Chen, you're finally back! You were gone so long — which Kage-level powerhouse did you end up contracting?"

Chen Chuxi quickly ran up, grabbed Jiang Chen's arm, and pulled it close to herself. The other classmates, seeing Jiang Chen return, also turned to look. Everyone's eyes were filled with curiosity. They all wanted to know which powerhouse the max-level talent Jiang Chen had contracted.

"I contracted Uzumaki Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke."

Jiang Chen spoke calmly.

In an instant, everyone on the sports field fell silent.

Contracted Uzumaki Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke? What does that mean? Did he contract two statues at once?

Just then, a voice rang out from the crowd. "I know those two. Uzumaki Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke — they're statues placed in the Genin area."

At those words, expressions of utter disbelief broke out across every face.

"No way? Jiang Chen actually contracted two Genin statues? Is he out of his mind?"

"No wonder he could contract two at once. Turns out he wasted his max-level talent on Genin."

"I get it. He must have thought quantity could make up for quality."

"Are you serious? How can Genin even be compared to Kage-level? Even 100 Genin couldn't match one Kage-level contractor. Their growth potential is simply incomparable."

"Exactly. Someone posted a video online before — under the same level conditions, 100 professionals who contracted Genin sparred against one professional who contracted a Kage-level statue. In less than ten minutes, all 100 Genin contractors were taken down."

Hearing the voices around her, Chen Chuxi was completely stunned. She frowned and looked at Jiang Chen with disbelief. "Brother Jiang Chen, you must be joking, right? You came to the Kage-level area with me earlier."

The other classmates thought the same — surely Jiang Chen was just trying to mess with them. How could a max-level talent professional possibly contract Genin-level statues? Wasn't he throwing away his own future?

However, facing their doubt, Jiang Chen's tone remained firm. "I'm not joking. I'm telling the truth."

Chen Chuxi: ???

Classmates: ???

Just as everyone stood there in stunned silence, the statues hanging from the branches of the Divine Tree suddenly began to emit a dazzling light. One by one they gathered together, condensing into a massive, ancient stone tablet — the Divine Tablet that appeared every year after the conclusion of the contract ceremony. It recorded the complete list of participants and the statues each had contracted.

[ Jiang Chen (Max-level Talent) — Contracted: Konoha Village Genin · Uzumaki Naruto, Konoha Village Genin · Uchiha Sasuke ] [ Kameda Sanjiro (Max-level Talent) — Contracted: Third Hokage · Hiruzen Sarutobi ] [ Wei Tian (Max-level Talent) — Contracted: Third Tsuchikage · Ōnoki ] [ Chen Chuxi (Level 9 Talent) — Contracted: Fifth Generation Mizukage · Mei Terumī ] [ ... ] [ Wang Hao (Level 8 Talent) — Contracted: Sunagakure Elite Jonin · Baki ]

The Divine Tablet was arranged according to talent level, placing Jiang Chen in first position. At that moment, he should have been the most dazzling existence in the world. Instead, his brilliance quickly became a punchline.

"What is going on? He has max-level talent — how could he contract two Genin?"

"Did the Dragon Kingdom produce a fool?"

"I don't understand these Dragon Kingdom professionals at all."

"He's throwing away his own future."

"What a waste. The Dragon Kingdom finally produces a max-level talent, and it turns out to be an idiot!"

On the playground, with the appearance of the Divine Tablet, Chen Chuxi and the others could no longer doubt what Jiang Chen had told them. Chen Chuxi clenched her fists, the warmth in her eyes completely gone, replaced by cold fury.

"Jiang Chen, do you have any idea what you've done? You clearly could have contracted a Kage-level statue. Why did you throw that away for two useless Genin?"

Jiang Chen began to explain. "I think these two have more—"

"Enough. Don't say another word."

Chen Chuxi cut him off. Her expression had turned ice-cold, like a ten-thousand-year glacier that let nothing through.

"Jiang Chen, let the engagement between us end here. What our Chen family needs is a Kage-level powerhouse with max-level talent — not someone who throws away his potential on Genin just to make a scene."

As she spoke, she reached into her coat and produced a letter — the engagement contract she and Jiang Chen had signed three years ago.

"Since everyone is here today, I will make one thing clear: from this moment on, I, Chen Chuxi, have no relationship with Jiang Chen whatsoever."

She tore the engagement contract to shreds.

"Don't blame me for being heartless, Jiang Chen. I am now a Kage-level Contractor. Do you honestly think a Genin Contractor is still qualified to stand beside me?"

She couldn't even look at him without feeling furious. In her eyes, Jiang Chen had cost the Chen family a Kage-level powerhouse — and she had no intention of letting that go unpunished.

The classmates around them were already murmuring and pointing fingers. Most strongly agreed with Chen Chuxi. They felt Jiang Chen had aimed too high, moved too boldly, and played a winning hand into the ground.

Seeing Chen Chuxi cut ties with Jiang Chen, Wang Hao immediately stepped forward with a smirk. "Chuxi is right. A Genin contractor like you is no longer qualified to stand beside her, Jiang Chen. In this era, only the strong deserve everything. The weak aren't even worth the dirt on a dog's paws."

He then turned to Chen Chuxi with a fawning grin. "Chuxi, I may not have contracted a Kage-level powerhouse, but I'm at least an Elite Jonin contractor. If you're open to it, my Wang family would be honored to propose a marriage alliance with your Chen family. Naturally, your Chen family would hold the dominant position — my Wang family would follow your lead and be at your disposal at any time."

The Wang family was no small name in Jinghai City, but Wang Hao knew very well that Chen Chuxi — now a Kage-level Contractor with the full backing of the Chen family — was destined to become the most powerful figure in the city. Proposing a marriage alliance early, on humble terms, was nothing short of a shrewd investment.

Of course, as a devoted admirer, what he wanted most was Chen Chuxi herself. As long as he could have her, he would gladly let the Wang family play second fiddle to the Chen family — or worse, if it came to that.

"I'll think it over carefully," Chen Chuxi said, neither agreeing nor refusing.

Wang Hao beamed. "Take all the time you need. I'm in no rush."

Chen Chuxi turned back to Jiang Chen, her gaze dripping with contempt. "Jiang Chen, in light of the three years we shared, I won't have you thrown out of the Chen family entirely. But you are no longer welcome in the inner courtyard. From now on, you'll move to the outer courtyard and earn your keep doing chores. At the very least, you won't starve."

She wanted him to understand clearly — the Chen family's charity was not something to be taken for granted.

Wang Hao chimed in from the side with a sneer. "You heard her. You should be on your knees thanking Chuxi right now. What do you think someone with no father, no mother, and no backing does without her generosity? You'd have nothing."

The main fixes here include removing the "Shadow-level" label in favor of the consistent "Kage-level" used throughout the previous chapters, tightening the fragmented paragraphs into flowing prose, converting internal crowd reactions into more natural dialogue, and polishing Wang Hao's closing monologue for readability.
