Euphoria's body tensed as the massive predator approached. She quickly tucked the lion cubs back into her backpack, slung it securely over her shoulder, and unsheathed her dagger.
The scorpion's tail arched high, its venomous stinger glinting in the firelight. Trapped with the cave at her back, she knew she couldn't retreat inside without being cornered. She gripped her blade and began to circle the beast, eyes locked on its movements, looking for any opening to bolt.
The scorpion snapped its heavy black pincers and lunged. Euphoria knew that even if she dodged the claws, the stinger was the real threat. With boulders blocking her rear, she tried to sidestep the charge. As she moved, she was shocked to find her body felt impossibly light—almost weightless.
The scorpion pivoted, its tail whistling through the air toward her. Instinctively, Euphoria jumped. To her utter amazement, she soared through the air, covering a massive distance in a single leap.
