Now that I wasn't completely and utterly terrified of everything and anything that was inside of this hall - at least, not because I thought that they might be used against me - I could appreciate the beauty of everything a little bit more.
Or at least I could if I wasn't in the process of fighting a losing battle against my exhaustion, my eyelids drooping and my footing becoming unsteady as I walked behind Valentina, and even then I was beginning to trail behind her as I fought to keep my eyes open.
She noticed it - I knew she did because she glanced back at me - but she didn't bother to slow her pace or even toss me the faintest crumb of concern, instead just climbing up the steps like nothing was different and setting off down a long, very opulent hallway.
Paintings and scrolls of all kinds adorned the walls, while the windows themselves had become pieces of art that depicted monsters and 'heroes' alike, turning this entire section of the fortress into some kind of art display.
