My Mother's expression was constantly shifting as she swung her head around fast enough that it actually concerned me, yet there was no way for me to try and calm her down since she was being very quick in her attempt to get to the bottom of this.

The way she was constantly flipping between being extremely fearful of retaliation from my newfound blood relatives and being extremely angry at me for what I had done - the blame was already being laid at my feet despite Valentina being the one who ordered me to bed her - made it hard to get a word in edgewise, especially for me.
