Chapter 4 - The Burial

After break, Edward announced that he and Anita would be going on a business trip in three days' time, and the trip would last for one month. During his absence, Sabastine would be in charge. Everyone was then asked to close for the day.

Sabastine escorted Anita home. As they neared her street, they saw police cars and an ambulance rushing past. They wondered what was happening.

When they finally reached her house, the place was crowded with people, police officers, and medical personnel. As she approached one of her neighbors, Andy, Sabastine stood by, shocked.

"Andy!" Anita called out, her voice trembling. "What is going on here? Why is everyone here? Why are the police and ambulance here?"

Andy was still crying. She tried to calm herself and Anita down before speaking. "Actually, my dear friend..." She paused, taking a deep breath. "I will ask your mother..."

Anita looked confused. "Where is she?" She tried to move forward, but Andy held her back.

"Early this morning," Andy began, holding both of Anita's hands tightly, "two gunmen came here and attacked your mother..."

"What?" Anita cut her off, unable to comprehend. "I don't understand! Where is my mum? Mum!" she screamed desperately.

"Calm down, my dear," Andy soothed her. "Your mum was shot twice in the chest. She is gone... she couldn't survive it. Please, get hold of yourself, my dear. Be strong."

As soon as the words left Andy's mouth, Anita collapsed on the ground, overwhelmed by grief. Sabastine and others quickly rushed her to the hospital.

While all this was happening, Markus and his friends, along with Blana and Juliana, were watching everything unfold. Blana was Juliana's friend, and Markus was actually Sabastine's brother, who worked as a spy—or a "second eye"—for Mr. Jago, the dangerous drug dealer.

As soon as Markus got home and didn't find his brother there, he immediately called him.

The phone rang, and Sabastine picked it up. "Hello?"

"Hello bro, where are you? Mum is worried," Markus said.

"I am sorry, I was just about to call you. I am at the hospital now."

"Hospital?" Markus lowered his voice so his mother wouldn't hear. "Bro, what are you doing there? What happened to you?"

"My girlfriend fainted earlier today," Sabastine lied. "She heard about the incident and needed attention, so I had to bring her here." He ended the call quickly.

Later, the doctor spoke to Sabastine. "Well, she is awake now, but I advise you take her home tomorrow since it is very late."

"Okay sir, thank you sir. Can I see her now?"

"Yes, sure. You can go in now."

As Sabastine entered the room, Anita was crying uncontrollably. Feeling terrible for her, he tried to comfort her.

"My love, please stop crying and be strong. She was like a mother to me too. Please be strong. I will be right here for you, always. If you ever need anything, I am here. Please, my love, did you hear what I said?"

Anita turned and looked at him. "What?"

"You need to be strong if you want your mum to be proud of you, my love. Please, okay?"

"Okay," she whispered, resting her head on his shoulder. "Thank you for not leaving me alone."

"You don't need to thank me. It's nothing."

Meanwhile, Markus was worried sick. He feared that his boss would hurt his brother to get back at him for providing the picture of Anita.

Back at Anita's house, the priest and neighbors helped with the cleaning and arrangements. The casket was ready, and her body was taken to the church for anyone who wished to pay their last respects before the burial the following day.

Neighbors and friends stayed with Anita at the church that night. The next day, she was buried, and Anita wept until she could cry no more.

After the burial of Anita's mother, Mr. Edrado became extremely caring towards Juliana. He did everything possible to prevent her from harming his daughter, willing to do anything to protect her. This included obeying every command of his boss and his daughter just to keep them happy.

They were playing together when his boss sent for him.

"Elvis!"

One of the most trusted bodyguards approached. "The boss sent for you," he said without wasting time.

Edrado stood up from the bed and kissed Juliana. "My dear, I will be back okay?"

"Okay dear, I'll be waiting."

Edrado turned to Elvis. "Let's go."

They both walked away. Arriving at an open space, they were asked to get into a car that would take them to their boss. Soon, they arrived at a bush area and an uncompleted building. They walked through the back and were amazed to find a fine, well-painted and furnished structure hidden behind the unfinished facade. They were led straight to the boss.

"He is here, Sir," Elvis announced as they entered.

"You sent for me, Sir?" Edrado asked.

"Yes, I did," Jago replied. "This is where we will be storing our substances. This is our warehouse, the one I told you about. As you can see, this place is safe from the police and the army. You are in charge here."

"Wow, it is safe, very safe indeed. And thank you for making me in charge here, Sir."

"One of our customers from China has paid for 20.5 kilograms. Make sure he gets the goods by tomorrow. Elvis and his boys will monitor the movement of the police and army to ensure they don't hinder our operations."

"Okay Sir, I will make sure he gets it tomorrow."

"Anyway, before you go, let's hear from my spy." Jago picked up his phone, but just as he was about to dial, Elvis came in with Markus—the very person he intended to call.

"Sir, he wants to see you," Elvis said.

"Okay, you can go. Thanks."

"Good evening, Sir," Markus greeted. "Well, I have bad news, Sir. General Lee has been transferred, and the new General of the Army is determined to ensure that no illegal substances go out or come in. He has ensured that every border has at least fifteen armed men guarding and checking every truck and stopping suspicious cars. This means security is very tight right now."

After listening, Edrado suggested, "We try shipping it through water."

Jago turned to Markus. "Check the ship side and clear it."

"Yes Sir, I will get back to you Sir." Markus walked out after the conversation.

Jago then turned to Edrado. "Just be careful, because those drugs are very expensive. I will send my boys around for protection."

"Okay Sir."

Edrado walked around the entire building inspecting everything, and later returned home.
