Chapter 135 - Chapter 135: The Native Deity of Earth

Chapter 135: The Native Deity of Earth

Time slipped away without a sound.

When Shirazawa finally woke up, he felt like his entire body was on the verge of falling apart.

"In the end, I'm the one who won this battle... whew..." Propping himself against the wall, he shakily staggered out of the room.

The ancients used to say: *An ox can be worked to death, but the field remains unbroken.*

As it turned out, those words were absolute facts. But Shirazawa had refused to believe the hype, and after sacrificing an infinite amount of vital essence, he had managed to secure a pyrrhic victory.

"Hmm~ hmmm~"

Downstairs in the kitchen, Shiro was looking absolutely radiant. Wearing an apron, she hummed a cheerful little tune while skillfully prepping a mountain of ingredients. Spread out across the cutting board were chives, fresh oysters, and pig kidneys–all top-tier, stamina-boosting recovery foods.

By the time Shirazawa painfully crawled his way down the stairs, he was greeted by an incredibly potent, savory aroma.

*Grumble...*

Hearing the sound, Shiro tilted her head slightly to look at the guy dragging himself down the steps, a knowing, mischievous smirk playing on her lips.

"..." Shirazawa stood there completely dumbfounded.

Even a donkey working for a production commune gets a two-day break after finishing a shift, right? If things kept going at this rate, it was genuinely going to cost him his life. Swallowing hard, he slowly turned his body around, preparing to crawl right back upstairs.

Suddenly, a firm grip locked onto his ankle.

"Darling~ where do you think you're going?"

Shirazawa's neck turned stiffly. There stood Shiro, holding a kitchen knife with a bright, beautiful smile plastered across her face.

"I prepared a vibrant, heartfelt dinner packed with love just for you~" Her voice was incredibly soft and sweet, like snow melting in the spring or the very first snowfall of winter.

Yet, the dense, almost suffocating aura of pure dread radiating from her made a violent shiver run down Shirazawa's spine.

"Uh, well..." He let out a dry laugh. "Let's rain-check this. How about another day?"

"I'm just gonna go back to bed for a bit to recover my energy."

"Is that so...?" Quite clearly, Shiro had zero intention of letting go. "You can only get proper rest once your stomach is full. Listen to me." She blinked her gorgeous eyes, her gentle tone carrying an absolute layer of non-negotiable authority.

*Gulp.* Shirazawa couldn't help but swallow hard. "Fine, I'll eat a little bit just to cushion my stomach."

Shiro nodded gently, the smile on her face growing even wider.

The moonlight was like water, and a gentle night breeze rustled through the curtains.

Dressed in a cute pair of pajamas, the young girl sat elegantly at the dining table, her slender fingers idly adjusting the candleholder. The flickering candlelight danced across her beautiful features, making her silhouette look incredibly dreamy and soft.

"Darling, eat up. If it's not enough, I can always make more," she called out softly, her voice incredibly pleasant to the ears.

Shirazawa lifted his head, his eyes a bit dazed. Looking across the table at Shiro, who was resting her chin in her hands while silently watching him eat, a sudden, inexplicable doubt popped up in his mind.

*Just what kind of wife did I actually marry and bring home? This is terrifying...*

*Ding-dong—*

The sudden chime of the doorbell shattered the cozy atmosphere inside the room. Shirazawa's brow furrowed slightly. This was Earth; they didn't have a single acquaintance here, so who on earth would be paying them a visit at an hour like this?

"Did you order a package?"

Across from him, Shiro's delicate brows tightly knit together as well. She shook her head. "No."

"Maybe a door-to-door salesman?"

"Probably." He shrugged, pushing himself up from his chair and walking over to pull the front door open.

Standing outside was a blonde, blue-eyed Western man. He looked quite young, easily around twenty-three or so, with exceptionally handsome features and an incredibly distinct demeanor. Still, none of that mattered to Shirazawa. The core issue was that he didn't recognize this guy in the slightest.

However, the man clearly knew exactly who he was looking at.

"Hi, Mr. Shirazawa. Pleasure to meet you. I go by Zeus. Please look after me." The blonde youth curled the corner of his lips into a smile, extending his right hand.

"Apologies, but I don't know you." Shirazawa gave the hand a polite, brief shake before immediately releasing his grip. "Is there something you need?"

"It's nothing incredibly pressing. I just happened to be passing by your residence and figured I'd pop in for a quick chat," Zeus replied with a bright smile, his gaze promptly shifting to look at the young girl inside the house. "And I take it this lovely lady must be Mrs. Shirazawa?" he inquired with impeccable manners.

Shiro kept her eyes closed, offering a tiny, bare nod. Her attitude was entirely cold and detached; she couldn't even be bothered to lift an eyelid to look at him.

*Don't think calling me 'Mrs. Shirazawa' is gonna make me happy. Breaking up my private quality time with my husband in the middle of the night... one look and I can tell you're not a good guy!*

Her freezing response left Zeus slightly startled, though he recovered his composure almost instantly. Taking a deep breath to maintain his smile, he asked, "Aren't you going to invite me in for a seat?"

"No need," Shirazawa replied flatly. *Who even is this guy? We don't know him from Adam, so why is he trying to act all familiar out of nowhere? Utterly bizarre.*

"..."

The atmosphere instantly hit a wall of pure awkwardness.

"...Ahem." A flicker of annoyance flashed through Zeus's eyes, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared. He reined in his expression, lowering his head slightly as he spoke in a mildly apologetic tone. "My apologies. I only came here today because I wanted to verify your origins."

"Oh?" Shirazawa raised an eyebrow. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"When external deities suddenly barge into the territory of a native god, it's only fair to offer an explanation, wouldn't you agree?"

The moment those words dropped, the couple instantly understood the situation. This guy named Zeus held a position practically identical to Güli-güli's; he was a deity responsible for managing Earth.

After a brief moment of consideration, Shirazawa ultimately stepped aside to let the guy into the living room. While he didn't particularly care for the man's vibe, there was no real reason to make an enemy out of him. If he could avoid complications, he genuinely preferred not to stir up trouble. At the same time, Zeus's sudden appearance brought up a few lingering questions in his mind that he wanted to clarify.

Zeus stepped into the house with an elegant stride, making himself right at home as he sat down on the living room sofa.

"The spread looks quite nice, Mr. Shirazawa~"

"Thanks for the compliment. It's all my wife's handiwork." Moving like a localized hurricane, Shirazawa rapidly vacuumed down the rest of the dinner, fiercely guarding his food. He wasn't about to let another guy touch a single bite of a meal his wife had meticulously prepared for him.

Watching Shirazawa wolf down the food, Zeus's eyelid couldn't help but twitch slightly. *Is all that really necessary? It's not like you're eating legendary divine nectar, it's just a few plates of oysters and stir-fried kidneys...*

Once Shirazawa finished clearing the plates, Shiro naturally got up to tidy away the dishes, brewing a fresh pot of tea for the two men.

The atmosphere in the room remained a bit stifling. The three of them sat there staring at one another, nobody willing to take the initiative to break the ice. The psychological warfare between gods had begun the very moment Zeus crossed the threshold. Whoever spoke first would automatically take a hit to their momentum.

Either way, this was Shirazawa and Shiro's house, meaning they had all the time in the world to out-sit him. Zeus was the one who was pressed for time.

Holding the teapot, Shiro casually poured out two cups. She held her white porcelain cup in one hand, her other hand gently tracing its rim in a completely relaxed, leisure manner.

Zeus couldn't resist sneaking a few extra glances at the lady of the house. Shiro's human appearance was modeled entirely after D. That specific silhouette belonged to an entity universally dubbed the ultimate beautiful body in the cosmos; absolutely no one could completely resist that charm.

"Ahem." Shirazawa let out a couple of sharp clearing coughs. *Sure, my Shiro is indisputably the most beautiful soul in the universe, but has this guy seriously never seen a woman before? Does he really need to stare for that long?* he griped internally.

Zeus: "..."

"What exactly are you here for?" Shirazawa finally opened the conversation.

Zeus took a sip of the hot tea, setting his porcelain cup back down before laying out his true intentions.

"Allow me to properly introduce myself once more. I am Zeus, of the Angel Clan, one of the Divine Kings sitting beneath the Twelve Primary Deities, a Space Envoy of the Milky Way, and the supreme Overseer of Earth."

The laundry list of grand titles left the couple thoroughly stunned. After a quick mental analysis, the two came to a simple conclusion: this guy's raw strength was pretty average, but his administrative rank was incredibly high.

The only mystery left was figuring out how his faction aligned with D. It was highly likely they were on completely opposing sides. After all, D ruled over the Underworld, and the Angel Clan obviously wouldn't belong to a domain of the dead. That meant he was safely a representative of the Heavens.

This visitor was definitely not coming with peaceful intentions.
