In a dark room, Jiang Hai sat in a lotus position. His eyes remained shut as he took methodical breaths while on the verge of shaping his chakra.
Chakra is crucial to even the most basic jutsu. Through various methods, the most ordinary of which is the use of hand seals, chakra can be controlled and maneuvered to create effects that would not be attainable otherwise, such as breathing fire, walking on water, or creating illusions.
Chakra is created when two primal energies, physical and spiritual, are molded together. Physical energy is accumulated from each of the body's cells and can be increased through training, stimulants, and exercise. Conversely, spiritual energy is derived from the mind's consciousness and can be increased through study, meditation, and experience.
Higher amounts of these primal energies lead to larger chakra reserves. Therefore, practicing a technique repeatedly builds experience, increasing spiritual energy and allowing more chakra to be created. As a result, a ninja can perform that same technique with more power. This same cycle applies to physical energy, provided the ninja increases their endurance. Some special individuals possess substantial potential that enables them to exponentially increase their chakra reserves in a relatively short amount of time.
At any given time, a ninja has a maximum amount of chakra they can form and use before they must rest to replenish it. With practice, this maximum can be increased, but only to a certain extent, as individuals are limited by the quantity of chakra their genetics grant them. For instance, Kakashi Hatake has decent chakra reserves, but no amount of training can grant him the same amount of chakra as Naruto Uzumaki. Bloodline plays a vital role in determining a ninja's future achievements.
After a few minutes of persistence, Jiang Hai was gradually able to sense and draw out both his physical and spiritual energies to begin merging them. Two threads of comforting energy coiled around each other, forming a cluster of warmth in his abdominal area. The process of constructing his chakra continued for ten minutes before Jiang Hai finally opened his eyes.

"Civilian level chakra is fine, I guess," Jiang Hai thought, stroking his chin as his gaze settled on the glowing light screen. "After all, I am not from a reputed clan and my physical body is very weak. If I had not fused with the boy's soul, which further strengthened my spiritual force, my chakra reserves would certainly be low tier."
Jiang Hai crossed his arms as he began contemplating. "But just this tiny amount of chakra won't be sufficient to keep me safe from the dangers of this world. Raising my chakra through training alone will consume too much time. Fortunately, I have high tier chakra control and the Chakra Refining skill. With their aid, I can quickly expand my reserves."
A growl erupted from Jiang Hai's stomach in a cry of protest. His body had not eaten for sixteen hours, and after spending his remaining energy on forming chakra, he was starving.
"Starving," Jiang Hai muttered, "but is there anything to eat in this place?"
Jiang Hai searched through the boy's memories, then walked toward a corner and found a piece of half eaten bread wrapped inside a sheet of paper. He sighed softly before munching on the hard slice. After some effort, he was able to completely devour it. While it was far from enough to satisfy his hunger, it was sufficient to sustain him for the time being.
"I will have to address the lack of food in the future, but I should get some training done now," he decided. "Even though I lack techniques and don't remember any hand signs from the series except for the Shadow Clone Jutsu, which I am currently unfit to perform, my high tier control should make it easier to learn the basics like tree climbing and water walking. Enhancing my overall physical capabilities and using chakra threads is also attainable, with the benefit of minuscule chakra loss."
Jiang Hai sat back into a meditative position and focused on his chakra, attempting to circulate it through his entire body. Slowly, the energy started to flow through the chakra channels, dragging itself as if it had the viscosity of honey. The energy did not want to yield, but Jiang Hai was uncompromising. With a cold smirk, he noted that his control over the chakra was impeccable.
He stood up and walked toward the wall. Placing his foot against it, he tried to channel a minuscule amount of chakra into the soles of his feet, but he quickly slid down. Jiang Hai's expression remained unchanging, as he understood the amount was not yet enough. He tried again, imbuing a bit more chakra. When he tried to gently pull his leg from the wall, he was pleased to find the sole of his foot stuck firmly. He repeated the process with the other leg until both were attached to the surface.
For the next few minutes, he stood there peacefully getting accustomed to the sensation. Next, he slightly reduced the amount of chakra on his soles. When he was about to fall, he stopped the experiment, having found the ideal requirement for the wall climbing exercise to minimize waste.
For the next hour, Jiang Hai continued his training. He progressed from walking to running. At times his control would waver, but he recovered quickly. By the end of the session, cracks covered the interior walls of the hut from moments of over exertion, but he never once fell. His mastery was comparable to that of Sakura during the Fourth Ninja War, though still below peak Sasuke, who had surpassed bloodline limitations in his mastery.
"I still have nearly 50% chakra remaining. I will train my ability to maneuver chakra threads," Jiang Hai decided. He began another session that lasted roughly fifteen minutes before his levels ran dangerously low. If a person were to be completely devoid of chakra, they would die.
The training consisted of emitting threads of chakra to attach to objects and move them according to his will. Controlling the threads accurately required most of his attention, and maintaining them was a constant drain. After finishing his training, he fell into a deep sleep. His young body needed rest to recover from the fatigue and contribute to his growth.
