Yuudai remained expressionless even in death, whereas Jiang Hai had a satisfied look on his face. He was not overjoyed, but he was content with the outcome.
Poof!
A cloud of white smoke shrouded Yuudai's body.
'Substitution Jutsu, hmph.' Jiang Hai grunted coldly and swiftly somersaulted backward. A wooden log with knives stabbed into it appeared in Yuudai's place and crashed to the floor.
Jiang Hai's feet touched the floor, and he suddenly felt the hair on his neck standing up. Yuudai loomed behind Jiang Hai like a ghost and slashed a cleaver at him with a bloodthirsty look on his face. Jiang Hai immediately crouched, narrowly evading the cleaver, as his chakra threads desperately dug into the ground and dragged him forward.
Jiang Hai took a deep breath as he managed to create distance. His gaze, filled with killing intent, landed on Yuudai, and a sadistic smile formed on his face. He was a bit surprised when Yuudai performed the substitution technique, but it was still acceptable to him. After all, who does not have a secret or two?
Capturing Jiang Hai's hideous smile made Yuudai's pitiful soul burn with endless bitterness. He howled in pure madness, "How could you do this!? Why did you do this!? You have to die! I will kill you! Kill you!"
"He, he, he..." Jiang Hai snickered openly. He lifted his brows, stared Yuudai in the eye, and spoke in a sadistic manner. "What a pitiful sight you are! Kekeke, do you want to know why I killed your innocent family?"
Yuudai's hold on the cleaver tightened; his expression was dark, exceedingly dark. He noticed that Jiang Hai was using this time to grasp the knives using the threads of chakra extending from his hands, but Yuudai did not make a move. He really wanted to know why his innocent family had to face such cruelty. He had to know the reason behind it because he just could not come up with one. If it was for money, why go as far as making an artwork out of the corpses?
Jiang Hai coldly spat, showing a look of disdain, and spoke coldly, "Why else? It was all your fault for offending our great lord. Really, what were you thinking?"
"What nonsense are you spewing? Don't shift the fucking blame on others! If another fucking lie comes out of your filthy mouth, I will chop off your dog head!" Yuudai roared, outright refuting Jiang Hai's bullshit.
"Pfft, looks like my ingenious cover was seen through," Jiang Hai sarcastically spoke, making Yuudai tremble from extreme rage. Jiang Hai's eyes suddenly lit up and he spoke with a lustful expression on his face. "Do you really need a reason to kill someone? I did it because I wanted to. It is that simple. But don't worry, I took extra care of your whore wife and undisciplined daughter. You should have seen their expressions; they cried tears of joy until the moment of their death."
The switch inside Yuudai keeping the last bit of his rationality was thoroughly shattered, and insanity overtook him.
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!
Sensing the situation was favorable, Jiang Hai unhesitatingly dashed ahead and sent out a flurry of knives at Yuudai.
"Die!" Yuudai disregarded the knives and intently focused on Jiang Hai. He tried to charge forward, but his expression suddenly changed as his eyes immediately darted toward his feet.
Unknown to Yuudai, his legs were firmly restricted by chakra threads, and this discovery immediately made him bewildered. He had carefully observed the threads during their conversation, and the appearance of these new threads was something he could not put his finger on.
What Yuudai did not know was that during their little chat, Jiang Hai had secretly produced threads from the soles of his feet that moved underground, made their way toward him, and coiled around his feet. If it were not for this very reason, Jiang Hai would never waste his breath on someone like Yuudai.
"Ahhh!" Yuudai was suddenly awakened from his daze as he felt piercing pain caused by the knives impaling his flesh, but fortunately for him, none of his vitals were harmed.
His luck did not last long as Jiang Hai was just a step away from him. Yuudai madly circulated his chakra into his legs and, at the last moment, broke free from the binding.
Sadly, the mistake he made in ignoring the knives was displayed now. The chakra threads glued to the knives were suddenly strengthened by Jiang Hai. The strengthened threads detached themselves from the knives and forcefully made their way into Yuudai's body through the wounds. They worked their way up to the brain, avoiding the heart.
Yuudai's face turned deathly pale as beads of cold sweat dropped from his forehead. His heart had sunk to an extreme low. He breathed in the sweet fragrance of death, and his mind regained its clarity as he swung his fist at Jiang Hai with terrifying momentum, aiming for the head.
But Jiang Hai had already stopped his charge as he emotionlessly stared at Yuudai, his body completely relaxed, showcasing his solid self confidence.
"Now sleep," Jiang Hai said as he lightly clenched his right palm.
A squishing sound was heard as Yuudai's brain was immediately turned into mush, and his body plopped down lifelessly. He died with extreme resentment and grievance in his heart. It was truly a pitiful ending.
"Such a waste of time, but now I can finally begin refining chakra." Jiang Hai indifferently smiled as he initiated processing the corpse.
