Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: A Twist Truth

Seeing Yu Qi blocking their way and preventing them from leaving, Wang Fu Ya and Madam Wang frowned. A sense of unease crept into their hearts. They were afraid that Yu Qi might want them to return the money.

Yu Qi smiled sweetly. How could she not understand what they were thinking? Their thoughts were practically written all over their faces. She did not intend to take the money back. Instead, she wanted to give it to the Wang Family as repayment for raising her all these years.

"Just to be clear, I did not steal your money. I will never admit to a crime I did not commit." Yu Qi said loudly and clearly, her voice firm.

The frowns on the Wang Family's faces deepened. At that moment, Wang Fu Ya's mind raced as she tried to figure out what Yu Qi was planning to do next.

"They tried to accuse me of stealing money that never even existed." Yu Qi continued.

Her words caused the people in the restaurant to gasp in surprise.

"Sis, we do not want to pursue this matter anymore. You have already returned the money to us. If you keep talking like this, your reputation will be ruined." Wang Fu Ya said, subtly trying to stop Yu Qi.

"My reputation? I will manage it myself. Now, may I ask Madam Wang, when did you start saving that money?" Yu Qi asked calmly, having already set her trap and waiting for Madam Wang to fall into it.

"One year ago." Madam Wang answered quickly. She only wanted to end this situation and leave as soon as possible.

"Oh? Then let me ask you this, what is your husband's monthly wage?" Yu Qi asked again.

"500. What does that have to do with anything?" Madam Wang replied impatiently, starting to feel annoyed.

She thought Yu Qi was just asking random, irrelevant questions.

"Idiot," Yu Qi said bluntly, clearly directing the word at Madam Wang.

"Did you not say that you started saving 1,000 a year ago? Based on your husband's wage, after deducting monthly rent and daily expenses of around 450, you would only have about 50 left to save each month. Multiply that 50 by 12 months, and you would only have around 600 in total savings. And you also said that you had not checked it for a long time, correct?" Yu Qi calmly laid out her reasoning, tightening the trap.

"Yes," Madam Wang replied confidently, still not realising the problem.

Wang Fu Ya had already understood what Yu Qi was implying. She tried to tug at her mother's sleeve, but Madam Wang did not notice her warning at all.

"Moron." Yu Qi added coldly, repeating the insult in a different way.

"So, that money never existed in the first place. This old man's eyes have truly been opened today. I have seen many shameless people, but I never thought I would encounter someone both shameless and foolish. Accusing someone of stealing money that never even existed?" An elderly man stood up and joined the conversation.

Wang Fu Ya's face turned pale. Everything had been ruined because of her mother's careless words. When she saw her mother about to speak again, she quickly pulled her sleeve hard, forcing Madam Wang to look at her. She shook her head slightly. Only then did Madam Wang realise that something had gone terribly wrong.

"Let me tell you something. Five days ago, I went to the nearby mountain to gather some wild vegetables to sell," Yu Qi continued calmly.

"Yes, we saw that girl. We even warned her not to go to that mountain, but she insisted." A man spoke up.

He was one of the villagers Yu Qi had met on her way to the mountain.

Yu Qi continued her story.

"I went into the mountain and managed to collect some wild vegetables. However, I also found something else, a ginseng. Not an ordinary one, but a thousand-year-old ginseng. I sold it to a shop, and they paid me 5 million for it. That is why I have money now. I did not steal anything from you. If you do not believe me, you can go and ask that shop. Its name is Godly Herbs." Yu Qi said, finishing her explanation while looking provocatively at Wang Fu Ya.

"Oh, so you are the one who sold that ginseng to Old Man Tang. He even bragged to me about it." The elderly man from earlier spoke again.

With that statement, it became clear that Yu Qi was telling the truth. The atmosphere in the restaurant shifted as everyone began looking at Wang Fu Ya and Madam Wang with various expressions, some mocking, some disdainful.

"I am giving that money to you as my gratitude for raising me. From now on, we owe each other nothing." Yu Qi said, pointing directly at the envelope in Madam Wang's hands.

The two women froze upon hearing those words.

Madam Wang was the first to recover. She quickly grabbed Wang Fu Ya's hand and pulled her away, eager to escape from the humiliating situation.

Yu Qi watched them leave and smirked coldly. She would never show kindness to people who intended to harm her.
