Appoline was on the ball, with a great idea… it just took a bit of gesturing to get across. Wiggles was able to help with that, and the fact the potion bottle was completely clear did help. The plan was for Appoline and Wiggles to step back through the portal, drink the potion and then come back. There were weaknesses, but they were a bit too nuanced to explain and the risk of Kat and Lily leaving was a bit too high.
So what they did was have Lily huff at them and grumble a bit as they left. Kat following suit as best she could without lying. They didn't want to make any direct references to them leaving just in case Greaves couldn't see, but implying it heavily was still on the table. When the pair stepped back through, it was rather obvious what the problem was. Kat and Lily could both still 'see' them.
