The Imperial Concubine Shu thought for a moment, ordered a tonic to be decocted, and had her Chief Palace Maid Liu Yin deliver it to the Emperor. With the Empress Dowager having confined her, she could only send the Chief Palace Maid over.
In the end Liu Yin was stopped at the door by the guard. The guard's attitude was icy; no matter what Liu Yin said, he wouldn't let her pass, nor would he go in to report.
This had never happened before.
The Imperial Concubine Shu was favored, so her Chief Palace Maid Liu Yin also had some standing in the palace. Those Palace Attendants who saw Liu Yin were all very respectful; even the Chief Eunuch Xue, who served at the Emperor's side, would greet Liu Yin with a broad smile.
This time Liu Yin didn't even get to see Eunuch Xue.
It was far too strange.
Was the Emperor's illness really that serious?
