Victor Morgan arrived with his men. Seeing the silhouette of a boat in the distance, he frowned and ordered, "Get a speedboat, now. We have to catch that boat. Vera might be on it."
Special Assistant York made the arrangements at once, securing a speedboat within minutes. Victor Morgan urgently told his men to give chase. However, they had barely hit the water when, as if by some trick of fate, he heard a voice calling his name from the bridge.
"Victor Morgan, you've been duped again!"
Though they were already some distance away, the voice carried over the water. When he turned to look, he saw Ron standing on the bridge with Vera. In a panic, Victor shouted, "Stop! Vera's not on the boat, she's on the bridge! That damned Ron is messing with me."
Ron even made a taunting gesture at him before pulling Vera away right in front of him.
"Quick, back to shore! We have to intercept him."
