Victor was helpless when it came to her, but he couldn't bear to let her suffer here alone, so he had to stay and take care of her to feel at ease.
Vera was just as helpless against him. She knew how stubborn he was, and that if she didn't agree to him staying, he wouldn't let her remain here.
Thinking of Ian's critical condition, she knew she had to stay by his side at the hospital for the next few days. She could only rest easy once he was out of danger.
"Alright, then. It'll just be hard on you, having to stay here with me."
"Compared to the time I spent searching for you, this is truly nothing."
Vera had never been in that situation, so she couldn't possibly know how each day had felt like a year for Victor back then.
This was also why Victor was so adamant about never being separated from her again. He was, quite simply, terrified of it.
