Last night brought strong winds and heavy rain, but the heat swept back in once the skies cleared. Sydney Sawyer sat in the passenger seat, the car's air conditioning making it exceptionally comfortable. It was a rare chance to be alone with Sebastian Lockwood, and she felt a nervous flutter of excitement.
She reached down to tug at the hem of her dress, pressed her legs together, and shifted her posture slightly.
'In front of him, I want every word I say and every move I make to be perfect.'
"When are you heading back to school tomorrow?" Sebastian Lockwood asked, his hands resting on the steering wheel as he spoke casually.
"My high-speed train is a little after eight in the morning. I should be able to get back to school in time for lunch."
"How long will you be at school?"
"Maybe ten days, maybe half a month. It's hard to say."
"I keep forgetting to ask, what's your major?"
"Math."
