Even while still alive, portions of their bodies could be harvested for valuable ingredients, and the fungal pores produced by the Hollow itself were highly sought after among alchemists, poisoners, and craftsmen alike. The process, however, was neither simple nor safe.
One needed the skill [Appraisal] to properly identify the ingredients, understand their properties, and determine the precise methods required to harvest them without destroying their usefulness.
Gathering such materials was an arduous task. It demanded concentration, knowledge, and at least an hour of painstaking labor.
