A black SUV stopped outside Kaiya Aiheti's house.
Luke and Jackson got out of the car. The sky had already darkened, and the street lamps on both sides of the road were lit.
A patrol car drove by at a distant intersection, suggesting the area was relatively safe.
Jackson walked to the gate and pressed the doorbell.
After a moment, a white man in a suit and earpiece emerged from the shadows of the yard. He cautiously sized up Luke and Jackson and asked, "What do you want?"
Jackson showed his badge, "LAPD. Is this Kaiya Aiheti's home?"
"Yes, it is."
"We would like to speak with her."
"Sorry, Ms. Aiheti didn't mention having visitors today.
Do you have an appointment?"
Jackson replied, "I'm investigating the robbery case involving Rebecca Mozer and want to ask her some questions. It won't take long."
"Please wait a moment," the white man said, then returned inside.
