Chapter 93: Madara Regret
Meanwhile, deep beneath the earth where sunlight would never reach, Uchiha Madara sat motionless. Only the faint sound of dripping water echoed throughout the cavern. The roots of the ten tails shell connected behind him, giving him nutrient at old age. His breathing was slow, but his mind churned like a raging storm.
Madara felt something that he had not feel for a long time after his brother dead, which is regret. He clicked his tongue quietly.
"So this is what happens to that alliance. ?"
Beside him, White Zetsu emerged from the stone wall like a shadow peeling itself from the earth.
"You seem troubled, Madara sama," White Zetsu said with a grin. His voice was light, almost playful... too playful for the grim air surrounding the cavern.
Madara slowly opened his eyes, revealing the Rinegan swirling pattern.
"I allowed the Uchiha and Uzumaki to intermarry," he muttered, his voice low and cold. "At the time, it was harmless and I thought their union would produce stronger children and caused no disruption to my plan. But now… now they have become unpredictable."
White Zetsu tilted his head. "Unpredictable is definitely one word for it. Dangerous might be another."
Black Zetsu emerged, he looked at Madara
Madara eyes narrowed dangerously. "What do you think Black Zetsu? I still remember you said I am your will but what would my will from few years ago thought regarding this?"
"Madara sama, I am your will but you were careless," Black Zetsu hissed. "The Uzumaki are no ordinary clan. Their talent for seals and chakra control is a threat by nature. Letting them merge bloodlines with the Uchiha was reckless."
"I was not reckless," he corrected sharply. "I calculated everything. A strong Uchiha Clan meant a future successor for my eyes. Uzumaki vitality was useful backup. A clan with deeper chakra reserves meant better compatibility with the Rinegan."
He paused, jaw tightening.
"But I did not expect him."
Black Zetsu voice lowered. "Uzumaki Raiken."
Madara didn't answer. The name alone brought a flicker of annoyance to his usually emotionless gaze.
One month ago, a report had reached him, a report that changed everything he thought about Uzumaki and Uchiha clan alliance.
White Zetsu emerged from the ground.
"Madara sama we got a new intel about Uchiha and Uzumaki alliance," said White Zetsu with the mischievous tone.
Madara eyes opened wide and he smiled a bit, he had known that their clan had intermarrying and even beaten the other nobles. This news make him a little bit happy, "What did they do this time?"
White Zetsu clapped lightly. "Well, I was latched onto the body of some random villager... very boring life and I overheard two Uchiha talking in a restaurant... Guess what they said?"
Madara glared. "Get to the point."
White Zetsu pretended to pout. "You're no fun Madara Sama. Fine, fine."
He leaned forward, voice dropping.
"They said the Uzumaki Clan is developing a fuinjutsu, one that can help Uchiha awaken the Sharingan."
Madara fingers twitched slightly barely noticeable, but enough to reveal how deeply this bothered him.
The Sharingan, The pride of the Uchiha. A kekkei genkai that awakened through emotion, through loss, grief, trauma and love.
A powerful eyes born from suffering and now they said they can awaken it through a seal?
Black Zetsu continued the explanation.
"If that fuinjutsu succeeds, then awakening the Sharingan will no longer require emotional suffering. With enough experimentation, they might even produce a catalyst for Mangekyou evolution."
Madara expression darkened instantly.
Awakening Mangekyou… without loss?
This thing is unthinkable in the past, he might be happy if he still Uchiha Clan Leader but now he can no longer be happy.
"Madara sama, if they manage to awaken mangekyou sharingan and even Rinegan" Black Zetsu whispered. "That means we would be facing an enemy that are very strong and we will lose the fight against them, the eye of the moon plan might be interrupted by them"
Madara clenched the arm of his stone seat and it cracked, the reason he wanted the clan to intermarrying is to produce stronger descendant so it can have more power to handle his Rinegan.
Continued Black Zetsu. "That is not the only problem, Madara sama. Raiken has already done several things that make the Uchiha Clan safer."
Madara eyes narrowed, he also knows about it.
"First," Black Zetsu said, "he strengthened the political position of the Uchiha within Konoha. Their marriages with the Uzumaki give them more influence. Their children inherit chakra vitality and increased capacity."
White Zetsu chuckled. "I overheard some old people in Uchiha Clan calling this era the Uchiha-Uzumaki Golden Age. Lots of babies being born, too. So many Sharingan potentials."
Madara eyebrow twitched.
"Second," Black Zetsu continued, "Raiken is empowering them. He teaches them advanced sealing methods, protects them politically, and now…"
"And now," White Zetsu finished, "he wants to help them awaken Sharingan if this continues like what they planned that means we will face an army of Mangekyou Sharingan."
Madara stood. He walked slowly across the cavern floor. "This boy…" Madara muttered. "This Raiken… Interfering where he should not."
"Madara sama, what do you want to do with them?" asked White Zetsu
Madara paused mid-step, if Raiken succeed.
The Uchiha would awaken Sharingan easily and even reach Mangekyou without suffering.
And then… can new vessel stand against hundreds of Uchiha?
The Moon Eye Plan would be threatened.
No.
Madara clenched his fists he growled softly. "It was my mistake I shouldn't let them intermarrying and even developed to another level."
"What's the order, Madara Sama? Do we eliminate him?" asked White Zetsu.
Madara turned slowly.
"Yes," he said. "We need another Ninja World War."
Black Zetsu smirked. "Madara sama, do you want to kill Raiken in a war?."
Madara nodded. "If Uzumaki Raiken died, they will become weak, he is he one who manage to escape and bring his whole clan to escape from Uzushiogakure. He is more dangerous than Tobirama."
"Ok Madara sama, we will do what you commanded," said Black Zetsu.
Thanks to their action, one month later the other village started to stockpile resources for war.
