Watching the long, lizard-like monster crawl toward the corpse, Agino curled up tightly on the ground, not daring to look any further.
The trumpet-shaped sucker flipped open, revealing its fanged jaws dripping with milky-white mucus. The fangs clamped down on the corpse and the sucker began to writhe. The three-meter-tall body was slowly sucked into the monster's grotesque mouth.
But at that moment, as if startled by something, the monster's glossy skin instantly turned pitch black. The sucker abruptly opened, and it spat the corpse back out. Its tail, bristling with Bone Spurs, rose and trembled like a rattlesnake, as though threatening some unseen presence.
"CHKK-CHKK-CHKK..." The trembling sound grew deeper. The monster seemed to have discovered something.
Agino, still prone, twisted to look behind him, only to find nothing—no one was there.
