"Did you put chili peppers in this sauce?" Charles looked up and asked the Giant in front of him.
"What are chili peppers? This sauce is made from Red Heart Leaves." The shopkeeper pulled out a leaf the size of a lotus leaf from under the stall—it was red inside, black outside, and had jagged edges.
Charles tore off a piece and put it in his mouth. Immediately, a pungent spiciness flooded his senses. Although it was spicy, it was completely different from the heat of chili peppers. It was a bitter spiciness, and there must have been something else in the sauce to neutralize the bitterness.
Faced with this food called Plastic, Charles and Lily ate until they were about half-full before leaving the table.
It wasn't that Charles didn't want to eat more, but Lily's sharp nose had already caught another alluring aroma drifting from around the corner.
Following the street near the dock, Charles led Lily toward the Island Heart, eating and sightseeing along the way.
