Amara's POV
I woke up the next morning having a little hangover. I looked around and saw Madison lying lazily next to me.
"Wake up sleepy head!" I hit her playfully and she muttered some words lazily.
"Alice !" I got up and realized I was in my pajamas.
"Did Ivan…" I thought remembering he was the one who put me to bed last night.
"Alice!" I called out again as I descended the stairs.
"I'm in the kitchen bitch!" She responded. I went to the kitchen and breathe in the smell of the oats she was preparing. Only God knows how much I love oats.
"I made your favorite " she smiled
"That's why I love you !" I replied and hugged her from behind.
"What can I do to help " I said rubbing my hands together.
"Erm cut the fruits " she said
"Got it chef!" I saluted playfully and went into the fridge to get some fruits. I got some apples, strawberries and bananas. I actually loved my oats with apples and bananas but Alice preferred strawberries to apples.
"Madison baby !" I called out after we were done setting up
"Madi!" Alice called out and she pulled out her sleepy face"
"Hope you washed your face cause breakfast is ready " I said to her and she nodded lazily.
"Don't you have any hangover medication! My head hurts so bad " she complained as she sat down.
"No dear but I can give you the best massage of your life… it really works " I replied
"Well thanks … I will pass with the massage for now cause girl.. my tummy is rumbling " she said and we laughed. We chitchatted over breakfast and before we realized we had finished the pot of oats. We laughed over how hungry we were and I told them about the incident last night.
"I'm really sorry for causing you so much trouble Amara!" Madi said
"Come on girl… this has got nothing to do with you" I replied
"But…"
"No buts Madi , Amara is right it wasn't your fault I bet the Tony guy must know something about this" Alice replied.
"Well I told Ivan the same thing and he said he will find him and get some answers from him" I said
"Good you brought that dude up" Alice smiled.
"What about him ?" I asked curiously.
"I think he likes you " she said and I almost choked on water.
"You are not serious Alice " I coughed
"I'm serious Amara you should have seen how that boy was looking at you yesterday!" She replied
"Ivan doesn't like me okay as a matter of fact he despises me I don't even know why he was acting all caring yesterday " I replied
"I know what I'm saying okay "
"Well keep imagining those silly stuffs but just make sure Chloe doesn't find out she hates me already " I laughed.
"And to prove a point that he likes you… he got into an argument with his girlfriend because of you " she said
"I've seen that before when I slept over at his place, Chloe is insecure whenever Ivan is around me "
"And why do you think she becomes that way ?"
"Well how would I know maybe she doesn't trust him besides Ivan is a player " I said
"Not anymore!" Madison interrupted
"How do you know?" I said
"I've known them in high school… Eric and him" she replied
"I knew they completed our high school!" I said
"And you Madi … is there something going on between you and Eric?" Alice asked
"No ! Eric and I are just cool " she replied and I could sense she was a little bit nervous.
"They hardly vibe … it's like Madi is always tensed when he comes around " I said
"You know that's not true " she said
"It is I noticed the last time he came here " I teased
"Well I'm not really fond of him " she replied getting up .
"Where are going?" Alice and I teased.
"Getting away from you two " she said
"But Eric is cute though … "I teased but she just shrugged and made her way to the bathroom.
Ivan's POV
I woke up to my phone buzzing, it was a text from Chloe and it sounded a little bit strange. It was a good morning text which was an unusual text considering the fact that we had an argument yesterday.
"Can we meet up at the cafeteria closer to your house for lunch today?" Another text popped up. I was literally confused so I called her up and she sounded normal as if yesterday didn't happen.
"Shouldn't you be yelling at me ?" I asked
"Why should I ?" She replied
"Stop acting dumb Chloe let's talk about it "
"I don't remember us fighting or arguing so what's there to talk about just freshen up and meet me up for lunch " She replied
"Fine!" I replied a little bit annoyed and hanged up.
I quickly freshened up and checked my time. It was almost 12 noon and I realized how long I had slept. I opened my windows and peeped through to see Amara's room. She was busily dancing with her friends and I wondered if there was an actual music. I didn't realize I had been watching them for long until Alice pointed her finger at me.
"Erm sorry wasn't looking "I pushed my fangs back
"I caught you pretty boy " Alice yelled back.
"That's an invasion of privacy dude ?" Amara replied
"Excuse me your room happens to point directly at mine and if you didn't want me to see you dance , you should have closed your windows!"
"I'm sorry then" she replied and drew her curtains.
"Was what I said rude ?" I thought as I was not expecting that reaction from her.
I drove to meet Chloe at the cafeteria but was surprised when she wasn't around even though she told me she was seated . I called her phone but instead of her voice, I heard a familiar voice.
"Daniella?" I asked, recognizing my sister's voice.
"Yes it's me " she replied
"How are you on Chloe's phone are you here in LA?" I asked and felt a tap on my back.
"Yes I'm here!" She smiled widely, opening her arms. I threw my hands around her tightly and only God knows how much I've missed her.
"Daniella didn't come alone sweetheart!" Mom appeared before me .
"What are you guys doing to me … you never told me you were coming and as a matter of fact I thought I was seeing you in two weeks time " I said
"We wanted to surprise you and we didn't wanna miss out on your birthday " Lilith , my cousin replied.
"Come on Lilith ! My birthday is next week and besides I don't do birthdays anymore !"
"Yeah auntie told me about it but you are turning 22 don't be lame … let's celebrate it ! " she laughed.
"Well that's enough for the reunion, can we have some food cause I'm starving " Chloe interrupted
"Sure and thanks for helping us " my mom replied
"No need auntie " she replied, making her way towards the table.
"Where is dad ?" I asked when they brought our food.
"Where else is more important to him " mom laughed it off even though I could tell she wished he was here .
"It's okay mom , you know how he is about his business " I cheered her up knowing I couldn't let her worry because of her condition.
"He asked us to tell you to meet him at 5 at the supermarket " Daniella replied sipping on her juice
"He could have called " I replied
"That's what I told him but you know how stubborn your father is Ivan " mom said tapping me on the back.
"I just hope he has really quit his habit of smoking "
"That's why we went away dear … he was better at the rehab " mom assured me .
"And why did you not tell us about you two " Daniella said pointing her finger at Chloe and I
"I wanted it to be a surprise " I stuttered not knowing what else to say
"I have always seen this coming Ivan I'm so happy it's with Chloe " mom said taking Chloe's hands in hers and smiling.
"I'm not really happy " Daniella rolled her eyes
"Excuse me silly girl shouldn't you be happy for your favorite girl!" Chloe said pinching her cheeks playfully.
"Stop doing that Chloe I'm not a kid and stop fluttering yourself since when are you my favorite I've never liked you!"
"Daniella!" Mom scolded
"It's okay auntie " Chloe said
"That was rude Daniella please apologize to her " I said
"But Ivan…" she said and I shook my head sideways
"I'm sorry " she just said and walked away
"Where is she going!" Mom said
"Let her be auntie she is just being a normal teenager " Lilith interrupted.
"I'm really sorry about Daniella's behavior Chloe and is your mom around?" Mom said
"Yes aunt .. she was even asking about you recently "
"Yeah it's actually been a while , tell her I'm inviting her for dinner tonight if she's got no plans "
"I will do just that "
"Excuse us mom I want to talk to Chloe in private for a minute" I said getting up from my seat
"Sure " she smiled
"Come with me " I said to her and she followed, Lilith staring at us as we leave.
"What is it Ivan ! don't think we are cool okay!" She said when we were in a more private place.
"I know Chloe and … can you drop that attitude for once please !" I replied angrily
"Oh so now I'm the one with the attitude right!" She yelled back
"You've never shown me any respect and I honestly regret dating you … why the fuck did you tell my family about this relationship!"
"Wasn't that what you wanted in the first place? We're you not the one who wanted the whole world to know about our relationship!"
"And what did you say back then ! Did you not say you wanted to keep it on a low-key profile from our families!"
"I did but I changed my mind Ivan ! I want the whole fucking world to know that you Ivan Terry Smith is my boyfriend!"
"That's what I want to put an end to … I can't continue with this your attitude Chloe it's over !"
"You seriously can't break up with me Ivan , you know you can't!"
"I can Chloe and I just did !"
"Fine ! Good ! I will just walk right there , to where your mom is sitting then I will tell her right now that , his beloved son , just broke up with me ! Chloe! The girl she had always wished for her son and you know what can happen if I tell her that right … she's going to have a heart attack and you don't want to see her sick again do you !" She said
"Don't you dare !" I threaten.
"Then do as I say Ivan ! It's not over between us ! At least not yet ! "
"How evil of you ! I can't believe you are trying to use my mom's love for you to blackmail me into staying with you!"
"Your mom is sick Ivan and you know her condition requires her not to be heartbroken and I bet you don't want to see her on the sick bed like the last time your brother…."
"Don't you dare bring up my brother and my mom's illness! You've not won Chloe and from now onwards , I don't want to see you closer to my mom again!" I said , my heart boiling.
"You don't get to decide that sweetheart!" She kissed me on the cheek and walked away . I stood there for a while, my fist clenched angrily. Chloe knew my weakest point and she was using that against me now that I wanted to get myself out of this mess I created in the first place. Chloe was once the sweetest girl I knew but now she was the devil right under my nose .
