Ivan's POV
"Ivan!" I heard a voice in my sleep and felt a finger move up along my chest.
"Lilith!" I got up immediately. She was sitting next to me on my bed, wearing only a sports bra and shorts.
"What are you doing here at this time of the night?" I asked checking my clock.
"I couldn't sleep Ivan, was having a nightmare " she said placing her palm on my chest. I looked at her hand , hoping she would take her hands away but she ignored it so I had to take it off myself.
"I think sleeping at your aunt's room will be fine " I said sitting up on my bed.
"I don't feel like waking her up " she replied, climbing onto my bed.
"I will use the guest room then" I said getting up . She held my hand and stood up.
"I like you Ivan " she said
"Seriously Lilith, you are my cousin!"
"So ? "
"It might sound appropriate for you but for me it isn't " I replied
"Is it because of Chloe?"
"This has got nothing to do with her … I can't have anything to do with you because we are cousins "
"So are you rejecting me?"
"You are beautiful Lilith and every man will be glad to have you stop this obsession you have for me … we are family and there's no way I will ever think of dating you " I said
"It's not an obsession Ivan!" She replied angrily and walked away. I sighed . I was throwing myself back to bed but I saw a reflection from Amara's room and that caught my attention. She was looking through her window and staring at the sky. I looked through my window and looked at the sky , wondering what was in there that she wasn't asleep by this time of the night. I stared at her until she noticed me. She rolled her eyes at me and drew her curtains. I smiled and went back to bed.
Amara's POV
Today is Saturday and mom was away with Jared to see dad . It's been a week since he came and I've never felt this happy in a long time. Jared and I bonded so well, it was as if we've already been with each other throughout our lives.
Eric asked me to meet him at a coffee shop down the road and I was getting ready . Eric and I have been close since the last couple of weeks and he was actually cool . He said there was something he wanted to tell me and I was kinda anxious. I FaceTime Alice so she could help me choose a dress . She helped me choose a pair of crazy jeans and a crop top. I tied my hair up in a loose ponytail and threw on my jacket. My car was being fixed so I had to take a taxi. I stood in front of my house and as I was waiting, I saw Ivan pulled out from his house in his car. He stopped and I knew he had noticed me. I don't know why I mostly run into him but I was starting to feel he was stalking me. He has been texting me throughout the week and I always left him on read . He even went to the extent of giving a note to Daniella to bring to me but till now I don't even know what was in the note . I left it on the kitchen counter when I was cooking but never found it again.
He got out from his car and walked towards me . Ivan was so charming and I wouldn't deny I have a little crush on him.
"My mom wants to talk to you" he said .
"Where is she ?" I asked
"In the car " he replied and walked away. I followed him and Beatrice lowered her window.
"Amara!" She smiled beautifully
"Hello Beatrice!" I smiled
"It's been a while, why don't you visit?"
"I'm sorry, school had me busy "
"Join us for dinner tonight " She said
"Alright " I smiled
"What are you doing standing there alone?" She asked
"I'm actually waiting for a taxi"
"Really hop in , Ivan can drop you " she said and I went to look at Ivan who pretended as if I didn't exist. I opened the backseat and sat down feeling uncomfortable. Ivan looked at me from the driver's mirror and I think I saw a smirk on his face. Beatrice and I talked on the way until she was dropped at the supermarket. My heart skipped a beat when Ivan returned back into the car. It was just me and him and I wished I could disappear. I thought he was opening his door to sit but he opened the side of my door to my surprise.
"Get down please " he said and I looked at him surprised. Is he leaving me here ? I thought looking at his hazel eyes.
I stepped out and he closed the gate .
"What is it ?" I asked looking at him , puzzled.
He ignored me and grabbed my hands tightly, pulling me along with him.
"Slow down Ivan you are dragging me!" I complained as we climbed a stairs that was behind the supermarket. I didn't know there was even a place like that in the building. We stopped in front of a room and he unlocked the door with his other hand. He pulled me inside then locked the door after.
"What's wrong with you let me go!" I exclaimed.
"I won't!" He replied and I wondered what he was up to . I looked around me and we were actually in a place that looked like a cinema hall but wasn't completely done.
"Where are we and what are we doing here?"
"Don't worry Amara , I would never hurt you! " he said
"Then why did you bring me here !"
"I want us to talk… since you won't answer my calls nor reply to my texts I had no other option but to do this "
"What do you want from me Ivan?"
"You !" He said and started to move towards me . I also moved back but couldn't go any further because of the wall.
"Don't!" I said but he kept on coming and literally stood in front of me.
"Fine!" He said and sat on a chair,leaving me standing alone to deal with my throbbing heart.
"I know you are off to see Eric and I'm not going to stop you… I just wish to let you know my intentions with you first " he said as he stared at the ceiling.
"How did you know I was going to see him?"
"I'm not dumb Amara I've noticed how close you guys are "
"I won't deny that " I replied
"I don't care . I just want you to know that I'm in love with you!" He said and my heart stopped.
"You are what!" I exclaimed
"I like you Amara " he said, standing in front of me.
"Thanks Ivan but I'm not dumb!" I said walking away but he held my hands and pulled me closer to him, my head, resting on his chest.
"I know you think I mean to play you but can you hear my heart now … can you hear how fast it is beating around you!" He said placing his hands on my head tightly against his chest. His heart was racing and mine was also racing.
"Ivan" I whispered gently raising my head. I wanted to be rude but I don't know why I couldn't. The look in his eyes were showing care and for once I believed his words.
"I don't know Ivan but I'm sorry I can't believe you ! What about Chloe is she not your girlfriend!" I replied angrily
"Forget about Chloe Amara ! Do you feel the same way, do you avoid me because you are also in love with me?" He asked .
"I don't like you " I replied turning away from him knowing what I said wasn't entirely the truth. I really don't know what I feel for Ivan, my heart race when he is around me and that makes me annoyed and act rude towards him.
"Alright " he said and I could tell the sadness in his voice. He unlocked the door and I honestly didn't want this conversation to end . I wish he would say something but he just agreeing makes my heart ache.
"I'm…" I said trying to say something but he descended the stairs and avoided me.
"Did he really meant what he said " I thought looking at his sudden change in behavior. I descended the stairs slowly and I was honestly not expecting to see him but he was waiting for me beside his car. I swollen the lump in my throat and walked towards the car. He opened the gate for me and without saying a word sat behind the wheel. We didn't communicate throughout the journey until we got to the coffee shop.
"Thanks " I said stepping out of the car . He nodded and drove away speedily.
