[Third person's POV]
Though she was there to do her job as Clover Easton's nurse, Heath Duncan happened to steal her heart violently.
He was a natural flirt, flirted with every woman she met, but for some reason, Heath Duncan didn't flirt with her. Why, why were all the other women so superior?
She had asked for tips from Carl the first day they were on the ship, and his 'tips' didn't seem to work, because for some reason, Heath Duncan went from flirting with everyone to only giving one woman those bedroom eyes.
A look that should only be reserved for Esther and Esther. How dare that brown-haired woman steal the affection only Esther should be getting?
But that was not the worst of it; the worst of it was watching that woman, drenched in wine, walk out of Heath's room, like she owned the place, like she belonged there.
She hated it more when that woman dragged her Heath into her room to not only steal Esther's reserved affection but also Esther's lovemaking. He should be devouring her like that, not that brown witch.
Heath was hers. He smiled at her when they were at the gym, not that stupid woman who kept insulting him. Then why is he shoving his tongue down that witch's throat?
But things became worse as time went on, they began to spend time keeping secrets, and she had to do something to get rid of her.
She thought pushing her overboard was going to help; she was even able to wipe all the cameras for the evidence. But no, he had to go out and look for her like a madman.
She was always a thorn in her eyes, but she is sure she has taken care of Fiona Lennon for good; Heath will be heartbroken for a while before he ends up in her hands.
"Hey, Esther, where is Fiona?" Selby asks, confused, when Esther returns to the bar alone.
"Oh… Um…. She said she wanted to go talk with Heath," Esther lies, "Come on girls, let us have fun and let Fiona be in love."
"Sure," Selby says, clearly not convinced. Esther felt uneasy. Does Selby suspect her of something?
But it only took a few minutes before Selby went back to the drinking fool she was; she couldn't help but chuckle. Though Fiona has good friends, they seem to be very stupid sometimes.
[Meanwhile]
The boys were having their great night out. Well, they were all listening to Lucas's yap about how awesome his girl was, and Gian was refusing to drink because his wife was pregnant.
"It seems the girls are having a fun time too," Gian says, "Clover hasn't contacted me yet."
"Is that an indication that they are having a good time?" Heath asks.
"Yeah, usually Clover calls when Fiona and Selby have gotten them in trouble," Carl answers, making it sink in that he knew more about Fiona than Heath.
"Well, that goes to show that peace, because Selby has sent me a text," Heath says, "It seems my Fiona has done something."
Heath quickly opens the message, 'I don't think Fiona is safe, Esther says she said she is coming to you, and I know she would never do that during a girls' night out. Esther did something to her, got security CCTV footage, found her, and made sure she was safe, because I know whatever is happening between Fiona and Esther is probably your fault. Don't tell anyone from the group, handle it yourself.'
"Sorry, gents, I need to go somewhere, apparently, Fiona can't leave without me," Heath says, hiding the panic and anger in his voice.
What could Esther have done? And why? It is not like her, and Heath was ever, and one reason why would she want to harm Fiona?
Those questions kept running through his mind as he ran to the security cameras. He needed to find her fast. He prayed and hoped she didn't throw her overboard. Fiona would survive another one of those.
"I want footage of all your rooms here," he yells.
He had gotten every security personnel to help revise the security footage until they found Fiona or where Esther and Fiona were last seen.
They spent half an hour looking around using the descriptions Heath gave them until they found the footage of Fiona following Esther to the fridge and watching Esther come on with Corner instead of Fiona.
"Damnit!" Heath yells, "Get everyone and arrest that woman, and show me to that place and let us get Fiona out of there."
Was it Esther who pushed Fiona overboard? She was the one last seen with her then, but unlike Carl, she didn't have a motive; he kept asking himself as he rushed to the food stock room.
He can hear sounds coming from the door as he reaches the room, "Open the door," he yells at one of the personnel.
"Um… sir, we are still waiting for the key," the guy said, "It has been missing since this morning."
"Well, make another one, my woman is trapped freezing to death, and I will make you suffer the same fate if she spends another second in there."
"The locksmith is coming," one of the ladies yells. He remembers her; she was one of the people who helped him cook when he was preparing for his and Fiona's date.
The locksmith arrives and, to his dread, is none other than Claude; he hates it. Fiona's life is in danger, and the only person to help her is the one she hates the most.
"You called me sir?" Claude says.
"Get this door open," Heath orders. Yes, he now knows Fiona's pride would not let her get help, but this man. But he'd rather have her yell and scream at him alive than protect her pride while she dies.
Claude smirks at Heath like he has won something, "Certainly, sir, I will lend you a hand if you lend me and my family a hand as well. You scratch my back, I scratch yours."
You could see Heath's last bit of sense leave him, "What do you want?"
"Just a measly 2 million bucks," Claude taunts.
"For doing your job?"
"Yeah, I don't know what is going on, but I know you now need me more than I need you, so yeah, I need a measly 2 million bucks for doing my job," Claude taunts, "I will add that we will leave Fiona alone after that."
"You..." he growled. He heard a bang on the door from the other side; it was definitely Fiona, either trying to get out or trying to stop Heath from losing his money. "Fine, open the door."
Claude gets his equipment and opens the door in just 5 minutes. As soon as the door opened, Fiona, who seemed half alive, half dead, with her nails bleeding from scratching the door open.
"You shouldn't have done that, Heath," she says, shaking from the cold. Only an hour and a half, and she is already half frozen.
"Don't you dare tell me not to help you when you are like this," Heath scolds. "Get some doctors!" he yells as he picks Fiona off the floor.
"But I was fine, I was going to claw my way out and kill that witch myself," Fiona says, pointing at a small hole in the door covered in blood.
"You are so darn stubborn," Heath scolded, "I am so happy Selby suspected something was wrong sooner."
"Yeah? Esther tried to kill me," Fiona says.
"I know she will pay for it."
"Um… sir, I am afraid the nurse is nowhere to be found," one of the security guards sent to retrieve Esther says, "and one of our rescue ships is gone; she must have got tipped off and ran."
"What!" Heath yells angrily. It seems this cruise is certainly from hell.
