Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 – Get away plan.

[Third Person's POV]

Though she had trusted Heath to take care of Fiona, Selby still harbored some anger towards Esther.

This was not the first time she had suspected Esther of hating Fiona; she had seen signs of resentment most times, but she had brushed it off.

"So, Esther, what were you and Fiona talking about?" Selby asks, trying her best to be hostile.

Esther chuckles awkwardly, "Can't these two girls have a secret?" she continues to chuckle, "Fiona will tell you herself, I am afraid of violating her boundaries."

She had quickly picked her drink up before taking a huge sip, and she smiled and Selby awkwardly.

Clover had chuckled awkwardly as well as she sensed the tension between the two women. She looked at Selby, trying to plead with her to stop what she was doing, but Selby just ignored her gaze.

"Um…. Well, I will go, my husband," Clover says. She was not willing to watch Selby interrogate Esther, because, unlike Selby, she knew Esther's hate towards Fiona was because she had a crush on Heath.

"No, you shouldn't go to the boys yet, how about our girls' night?" Esther immediately rose from her seat, "Um…... let us spend this night with just us girls."

Selby became more and more worried about Fiona because of her reaction, because now she was sure Fiona was not safe.

"Why not"? Selby asked, annoyed, "You let Fiona run to cuddle with Heath. Why can't four-leaf go to her bearlike husband?"

"I just…... I… I kind of owed Fiona a little, that is why I let her go," Esther comes up with a bogus explanation.

"Just let Clover go, you and I will spend this girl's night together okay," Selby reassures. If she lets Clover go to the boys' side, she will be able to inquire about Fiona's whereabouts and Fiona will be saved.

"But…..."

"Come on Est, you and I haven't hung out in a long time, let these whipped fools spend time together," Selby reassures again. Esther just smiles awkwardly and goes back to her seat.

She needed to stop Clover, but she didn't want to seem suspicious and, by the looks of things, Selby seemed to have been suspicious of her actions already.

"Fine, let us hang out without the whipped fools," she says. She had tried her best, but it was clear in her voice that she was nervous and agitated.

They had ordered more drinks for themselves, vowing to have the time of their lives. Esther kept looking at the door nervously as if she were expecting someone.

"Come on, just a little hint at what is it about," Selby says, trying to be playful so she can get the root of this hate Esther has towards Fiona. "Was it about Carl?"

The moment Selby's words came out of her mouth, Esther choked on her drink, "Huh? Are you crazy? Why would I fight for a man like Carl?"

"Well, you seem to want to advocate for him a lot, so I wondered if he stole your heart," Selby sincerely replies.

"No, I am not attracted to Carl," Esther says, "it is Heath I want."

She had said that unconsciously and the moment she realized what she had just said, it was already too late.

"Want? You wanted him right, because he is with Fiona now," Selby roars with anger, the look on Esther's face when she said that it was clear she wouldn't be opposed to killing her friend if needed to be.

"Oh…. Um… yeah, of course, that is what I meant, it is Heath I wanted," Esther says with a nervous chuckle. "I really need to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back."

Selby watches as she flies out the bar, and she follows her diligently. Maybe if she followed, she would lead her to where on earth she stashed her friend. Hopefully, it will not be at the bottom of the ocean.

She follows until Esther meets up with Corner and his family, the same Corner who put Clover through hell, the same Corner who would take any chance to get back at Fiona for introducing Clover to Gian.

It was clear Esther was up to no good, and the way it seemed the two were arguing made Selby more terrified of her friend.

'What if it was Esther who pushed Fiona overboard last time?' Selby thought to herself, and the realization of this seemingly being true, made her shiver with fear.

It was Esther who was last seen with Fiona, and it was Esther who told everyone, Fiona, to go to her room when her whereabouts were questioned.

She watched both Corner and Esther leave the crowded room and she followed them."What have they done to her friend?"' she wondered.

They enter a small empty room where they continue to argue enough for Selby to hear their conversations.

"What do you mean? She is unto us, she is unto you? I am not affiliated with that stuff," Corner yells at Esther.

"Selby is asking questions that show she is clearly suspicious. If Fiona is found dead in the fridge, I am the first suspect, and best believe I will get you under the bus," Esther argued.

"You are the one who asked for my help," Corner says, "I was not to blame for this, it was all you trying to win Heath Duncan over."

"Oh… Please, you are the one who said you wanted to get her back for humiliating you," Esther fires, "Matter of fact, you are more likely to be arrested for this than me. Don't try me Corner."

"You…. You…"

"I have an escape plan, and you are going to help me," Esther says.

"And why should I help you? You are the one planning to abandon me with the responsibility for a crime you helped me commit," Corner fires.

"I will escape with you, stupid," Esther replies before rolling her eyes, "Come on, follow me, I have had this plan for a long time, considering Fiona seems to be an annoying bug that will always bounce back."

As they continued to leave for a different room, Selby contemplated whether she should confront them or run to rescue Fiona. If they escape, Fiona's life will be in constant danger, but what if Heath doesn't find Fiona before it is too late?

She quickly texts Heath about Fiona's whereabouts before running behind them. She needs to stop them from escaping.

She finds them in the emergency room trying to steal a boat. "Wow, this is a weird bathroom, huh?" she mocks.

Esther gasps, both her and Corner are frozen in their action. "I can't believe you are risking your whole life for a man that doesn't love you, that is so pathetic," Selby mocks.

"Risk my life?" Esther says before laughing hysterically, "The one risking her life for a friend that is not even worth the oxygen she gets on the daily is you. You think Fiona would care about you."

"Well, I have known her long enough to know she will," Selby says, charging at the two with all her might.

She punched Corner in the face, "I know you must have used a cheap trick to harm Fiona, but unfortunately for you, there is no cheap trick to use on me."

Corner wipes the blood coming out of his nose angrily. "How dare you," he yells at Selby.

Both Corner and Selby had started to fight, but to Selby's dismay, she hit him with everything she had. How dare they lay their filthy hand on her precious friend.

After a few minutes, Corner finally fell on his knees. Selby looked for Esther to find her and the emergency boat was gone. She had used Corner as a distraction to get away. It seemed this was her plan from the beginning.

A security team had arrived at the scene too late; they were only able to arrest Corner as Esther was nowhere to be found. "Damnit!" Selby cusses, she had failed her friend.
